I bought this for regular home use and have been really pleased with its effectiveness and ease of use.
The upright function works better than the rented cleaners that I have used in the past. It covers roughly the same area of carpet (that is to say, not the corners) and works similarly with the water spraying in the same fashion, so it was simple for me to get used to using. The attachment works really well and was convenient to use last week when my daughter spilled my coffee on the floor. It was a snap to clean the mess.
The only criticism that I have is that the method of pouring the cleaner into the tank took some time for me to figure out and can be messy. But once I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing.

This is the first heat carpet cleaner I have purchased, and I must say it worked better than I had expected! I used the pet stain bissell solution, and everything came out of the carpet! I did have to refill the water often, but this was a very simple task! It's also nice that the dirty water is kept separate from the clean, so that you are not pushing the dirt right back into your carpet... The only con is (and you can find this info everywhere online) that after you clean, the remaining soap residue becomes a dirt magnet! The carpet now becomes dirtier faster! A friend of mine suggests that you only use the solution once in a while, and use only hot water most of the time... I've only used my cleaner once so far, but intend to use only water on the next few washes... We'll see how it goes!

Needs a larger tank,breaks down often,Carpet attracts dirt more easily,This thing sucks, period!,doesnt suck up water,heat what heat ?This carpet cleaner stinks, doesnt pick up water from the carpet, made the whole house stink, had to go rent another cleaner form the store.IT also doesnt heat the water either traded it for another one same thing. DONT BUY THIS

Pros:
Cleans very well,picks up 97% of water,Carpet dries very quicklyI was so excited making my purchase of my cleaner, went right home and started steam cleaning everything I could! I had done my research for 2 weeks on which cleaner I wanted to buy. After research, I knew I wanted a Bissell, wanted one that heated the water, and Sears had the best prices. This was a more simple model than other Bissell's, but I figured for the money, it was my best value. It is very easy to use, light weight for maneuvering, and does an excellent job cleaning! Very pleased with my decision.

There are a great deal of things wrong with this shampooer! First, it has a hose that is used for it's hand held attachment, but there's no where to store the hose so you basically have to tie the thing up or deal with it unraveling while you're using the darn thing. The receptor tank is tiny and when you shampoo a small area of your carpet the tank is already full. Even worse, the plastic container that you would put the excess water is shared with the compartment that you would put clean water and soap so although they are sectioned off it leaves very little room for either. For the most part this little piece of junk is perfect for an area rug, but if you have a room full of carpet you will be going back and forth emptying the receptor tank out and filling up the clean water since ti doesn't hold any volume. I strongly suggest that you go into the store and purchase a shampooer that you are able to carefully check, because all the things that I missed was a result of not being able to actually see the shampooer outside of viewing a photo.
The positives are that it picks up water very good! It doesn't get clogged. It has a long cord and the attachments work just as good as the shampooer itself. Again, if you have a area rug this is a great option for you, but I'm sure if you just have an area rug you can find something cheaper than this.
