  • The Eco cycle saves energy
  • This Bosch dishwasher has 6 wash programs and 5 options

After careful research, I bought the Bosch... (with some cautions)
After much research, we landed on this Bosch for its' sleek look and top-of-the-door controls. Even tho others have reported that they had trouble with the interior space, I have found it holds as much as our last one. This one has three shelves -- the top rack, for small items or extra flat wear/utensils; middle rack, which is adjustable; bottom rack, which works for our needs quite well. The filter is self-clean, my preference after our last dishwasher had frequent problems with a filter that actually regurgitated some of the food back into the water (ugh). We use the ECO cycle most of the time (1.5 hours) and the dishes are sparkling clean and dry (I'm in the habit of airing out the dishes after running the cycle so I still do that). +++ super quiet, stylish, cleans beautifully THINGS TO BE AWARE OF: the drain hose must be installed as diagramed in the installation manual (available online at boschappliances.com). If it is not looped 20+ inches above the sub-floor, the drain water can be drawn back in to the pump, causing a smell (this happened to us; I had to research on my own and have the installers return). Also, after about the 3rd use, the machine wouldn't work bc the door alignment was off (the LED light and also the timer flashed and could not be reset). So that involved a call to Bosch. They had us call the local warranty people, who immediately adjusted it and it's been fine since.

Not impressed, waste of money
After much research was done I came to the conclusion of purchasing the Bosch 800 series dishwasher. There is one definite "pro" to this dishwasher and that is- it truly is EXTREMELY quiet!! Bosch really did a great job at manufacturing this appliance to meet the needs of extreme noise reduction. I also like the look of the appliance and how sleek it is however... for being "German engineered" The quality of the front plate is cheap. It seems as if they just stuck a thin sheet of metal or whatever it is onto the front of the dishwasher. When looking at it you will never think it is cheaply made but if you were to put even your pinky finger in the middle on the front door (when closed) and push in it will dent inward and pop back out- just seems like they opted for a "cheap finish" and in a sense it is false advertisement. When you buy something pricey that is manufactured in a European country you expect European quality-as in no short cuts and an all around exceptionally well finished product. BE WARNED the dishes dry with condensation drying. At first this sounds nice because it means there is no heating element which means it is more energy efficient (which is how the sales rep will present it). The annoying part is that I have to air dry ALL of my containers/cups after I have taken them out of the washer and it just prolongs the cleaning/drying/putting away of dishes (and who wants a chore that lasts longer than what it should). I regret getting this dishwasher for this reason. The dishes on the top rack are always left with water and water spots even after I've left the dishes sitting for a couple hours after the load is finished. I do use the Rinse Aid that is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED which is SUPPOSED TO give your dishes a spot-free dry but buying the rinse aid just seems like a waste of money because I don't feel like it makes a difference. In addition to all of this there is a strong disturbing odor that jumps out when you open the door in between washes. When you watch you tube videos on Bosch's channel they encourage you to load dirty dishes "just as they are" and there is "no need for rinsing" but I strongly disagree. The only time there has not been a smell coming out of the dishwasher is if each dish is thoroughly- I mean thoroughly rinsed! Geez you mine as well hand wash them! My final thoughts are this: The product looks great and is quiet, other than that I do not feel that it gets the job done, nor is it worth the money. I would highly recommend you look for a more affordable brand that has a heating element and I bet you it will get the job done 10 times better than this one. P.S. If you decide to buy this dishwasher don't purchase the dishwashing kit when the salesman says you "need it to install it" it is a lie and I had to waste my time driving back to sears to get a refund for it after the dishwasher was installed and the guy told us that this dishwasher in particular doesn't need the kit. So annoying.

Had such high hopes :(

I had such high hopes since it was the most expensive and highest rated but it did not deliver at all. Buy something else!!!!!!! It never cleans the dishes fully even half full, it always leaves some residue off on the plates, bowls and glasses. The spoons, knives and forks never get properly cleaned, and I have learned to put it in a certain way and even then it is hit or miss. The drawers always come off the rails and become a hassle to pull out after the cycle. Since there is no heated dry you always have to use finish products during the cycle and replace at least every two weeks!!!!! Or really bad water spots, sometimes I even have to open the door after the cycle to vent the hot air or else I still get spots!!!!! Third drawer is so high up that any utensils left up there barely get clean!!!! I have had this unit for 8 months and I was really hoping that it would get better, but sadly no and I wish that I could return it for another model I HATE THIS UNIT!!!!! I may have got a lemon but the only good things are the look as it is very sleek and the unit is very quiet you hardly hear anything when it is running.

Overall
Nice dishwasher, quality built and expected to work for many years

First, this machine does not require the water supply hose/drain kit the store may try to add on to your purchase, it comes with it. Actually the water supply connection hose comes pre-installed and is very good quality. Make sure when installing, the drain hose is looped up at least 20" above the cabinet floor as it requires this. Now on to the good stuff. This dishwasher cleans items very well and there are 3 settings that ensure the dishes get dry, pretty much guaranteed as it does a sanitize on the settings of AUTO, NORMAL AND HEAVY. Remember this unit does not have a heating element and REQUIRES a RINSE AID to ensure excellent drying results. We first used an express setting to see what happened and the dish came out dry, but the silverware was only a little damp, almost dry. We want are dishes and silverware dry, no exceptions so we plan to use the above settings and select sanitize to ensure this. Now the noise level, compared to our last builder-grade GE piece of ****, this is much improved, but I did have expectations of no -sound, which is unrealistic. At the end of the day, the DW is great and other than the annoying draining sound the DW does when it drains into my disposal under the sink, we are very happy. I will end by saying the controls need some studying as there are some tricky combinations of setting to learn, which after a week or so anyone can learn but to maximum efficiency, please take time to learn these settings.

Lean mean quiet machine

It cleans dishes so well, even when my kids don't rinse their dishes. It is so quiet when running and the only way you know that it is running is by the light being on!

Third rack is great

Configurability is great in this washer, third rack holds a lot. Top rack has great positions that allow for tall glasses but also leave plenty of room on bottom rack. Has got tough messes off of dishes with no problems.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

So far, love it!

Super quiet, very spacious, sleek stainless, dishes come out gorgeous, and I'm already used to the fact that it doesn't have a heated dry (in fact, no more worrying about how hot that element got)...has a dehumid. built in so I leave it overnight and dishes are totally dry in the morning...

I would recommend this product to a friend.

stopped working after 3 weeks

I bought this dishwasher after reading the reviews. I have had it 3 weeks and now it does not work. We kept smelling something like wires burning and now it has stopped altogether. there is a smell coming from the drain which has standing water, there was no food particals. I started to have someone come out and fix it but since I was still in my 30 days I have decided to purchase something else. The top buttons were hard to get it to run. Disliked this dishwasher.

Love this dishwasher!

I have a slightly older model of this dishwasher (I do not have the third rack for the top). It was purchased in the fall of 2012. We love this dishwasher! You really do need the little red light as it is so quiet! The first time we ran it I did see the light but could not hear it-had to step over to it and put my ear right next to it to hear it running. Bought it on recommendation of my daughter-they replaced this one in their house after it flooded their kitchen-these are sealed so well they are said to be leak proof. When our old one (16 years old) also flooded our kitchen, it was a no-brainer! I thought the "delay" cycle was just something extra and did not really care about it. As it tuns out, I use it much more often than I ever thought I would! Really nice to load it up, get it ready and set delay for a couple of hours while I shower or so some laundry-I get the hot water when I need it and never forget to run the dishwasher! Being so well sealed it does sometimes have an odor from the dishes-if this is problem for you, try using Cascade with Gain detergent packs-solves the problem for me. I also love the fact that it does not have dryer coils on the bottom-I can put plastic stuff on the bottom rack and it won't melt! The food catcher in the bottom is quite easy to remove and clean-I do that every 2 or 3 weeks. The only thing I don't care for is the stainless steel finish. I have never been a big fan of stainless steel appliances (I think they look institutional), but the man who was writing the check wanted stainless steel so we got that. It steaks. It always has steaks down the front of it. I'm gong to have to look for some kind of special stainless steel cleaner I guess. But that does not affect how well the unit works.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great dishwasher! Very pleased!

This dishwasher is great! We?ve had Bosh Dishwasher (earlier model) and we were pretty happy with it, but Bosch 24" 800 Series even better: - It?s not just quiet? It?s extremely quiet! - It designed very well. It can hold a lot of dishes! And I absolutely love the 3rd top rack for knives and utensils. ! Other reviewers saying that it?s not very good for washing big pots and pans. I normally wash them by hands anyway, but if I need more space at the bottom rack I just remove cutlery basket and use 3rd rack instead. - The dishes come out spotless and shiny Other reviewers complaining that because it doesn?t have heating element for drying, there's a lot of water left on the tops of dishes. It doesn?t bother me at all. I?ve never had to hand dry dishes, I just let them stay inside the dishwasher for a few hours and they come out nice and dry. Overall, it does pretty good job at washing dishes with minimal noise
