Air Purifiers and Dehumidifiers Keep You Comfortable and Healthy

Keeping the air in a room comfortable is more than a matter of heating and cooling. Controlling humidity levels and allergen load can be just as important to enjoying time in the house. Fortunately, it easy to make inside air exactly the way you want it.

Air purifiers remove pollen, smoke, and other unwanted particles from the air to improve the odor of a room as well as reduce exposure to allergens and pollutants. When odor is a problem, look for a machine that uses a carbon filter. Activated carbon is well-known for its ability to clean the air of any noxious scents. To help control allergens like pollen and dust mites, seek a HEPA air purifier. This advanced filtration technology is able to collect particles far tinier than can be controlled by typical paper filters. A combination of a carbon pre-filter and a HEPA filter is great for removing both odors and allergens in a single pass. Air purifiers that have ionic capabilities add yet another layer of air-cleaning power to the mix.

For humidity levels, there are two main types of machines: humidifiers and dehumidifiers. When the air is too dry, turn on one of these portable humidifiers to add needed moisture to the air. These systems are small and able to fit on a tabletop or bench. This makes them great for single-room applications. Even a large room humidifier is small enough for easy placement. Another nice thing about portable humidifiers is how long they can run without needing to be refilled. Just one fill will allow a large room humidifier to run for 48 hours.

Dehumidifiers solve the opposite problem. When the air is soggy, fire up one of these machines to take the excess moisture away. As with humidifiers, these dehumidifiers are available in a wide range of sizes to suit the needs of any room. Since they're portable, they're easy to use when needed and store when not in use.

All air-improvement machines need occasional maintenance. When it time for a new filter, hose, or other accessories, know that finding them won be a problem. HEPA and other filters, hoses, antibacterial humidifier liquid, and other such things are readily available for all modern equipment. Pick up some spare filters when you buy your machine for even more convenience.
