Arnold  Universal Replacement Snowblower Poly Slide Skid Shoe Kit

I have had a snowblower for over a decade, and the part of it that makes no sense to me is the flimsy skid shoes that all be the best come with. It takes hardly a season before the small surface area and light gauge metal is worn through. I decided to try these last winter, and they made a huge difference. They don't wear nearly as fast as the metal, due in part to materials, in part to the larger surface area that contacts the pavement. They don't rust, and they make it easier to move the machine. In short, all pluses, no minuses. Mind you, this is relative to the cheap stuff that comes either already installed or as aftermarket replacements. No doubt there could be something that is better. I haven't found it. The cost is only about 50% more than some metal replacements, almost the same as some others, and less than still others. My guess is that they will last 4-5 times longer, maybe more, than the $20 variety. That is due in part to the ability to turn them over and get wear out of both sides of the shoes. Heck, I haven't tried, but after they are worn out you may even be able to cut them in half and use the rounded edges for a few weeks. I noticed on the Sears web site that there were two other products that appeared to be very similar but cost almost twice as much. I'm not sure why that is. Unless you live in an area where the snow comes down twice a week for six months (poor you, if so), I think you will do okay with the less expensive ones. They might even outlast your snowblower.

I have '95 Craftsman 5hp snowblower that has served me faithfully. I noticed that one of the metal skids on the bottom of the auger shroud was worn away, and headed to the local Sears to look for parts.

The Arnold Universal Replacement Snowblower Poly Slide Shoe kit contained everything I needed to replace the worn metal skids on my 17 year old blower. The kit includes two sets of mounting bolts, one of which fit the existing skid mounting holes on my blower. The slots on the poly shoes, combined with the included slotted bushing, provides enough flexibility that I could mount the poly shoes using the existing hole pattern on the blower.

Will they hold up 17 years like the metal ones did?  I'll let you know when they wear out, unless the blower wears out, first.

They do not fit on the craftman's 30" snowblower. The holes do not line up.

I have a really rough surface on my concrete driveway.  After 3-4 storms I have worn down the steel shoes on my Craftsman 247.886640.   These poly slide shoes are a little more expensive, but they don't rust or wear much and don't mark the concrete with scratches.

The old worn shoes also would catch on the concrete expansion joints.  Poly does not.  And they fit the existing mounting holes fine.

Had no choice but to buy them. A big storm coming and no skid plates for my MTD snowthrower could be found. They went on easily, fit great and worked very well for their first use. Seem much smoother than metal. Time will tell if they last any longer than metal ones. With the increased size of the plates. I worry about little things like how ice will settle in between them and machine and create rust when it melts. Maybe it won't be a concern.

Perfect, exactly as it should have been to begin with.

Why was this snowblower ever made without these slides?

Metal against a sidewalk or driveway is obviously Going to scratch.

No complaints about this product, just that I shouldn't have had to pay extra to get them. This was Not a cheap snowblower and Sears should not have cut corners by leaving off this important feature.

This product was easy to install. Sears had this in stock. Very helpful sales personnel. I would buy this again. Thanks Sears!!!
