What is a Deep Cycle Battery?

A deep cycle battery has thick plates inside it to increase charge capacity, which provides power for a long period of time. A deep cycle battery is not typically used in cars, since passenger vehicles would run a deep cycle battery down quicker than other car batteries. This kind of battery is mostly used to power boats, golf carts or other recreational equipment. There are also special versions made for running accessories in a camper on auxiliary power.

Benefits of a deep cycle battery

  • Provides power to operate small fishing boats
  • Runs trolling motors on boats or RVs so you can use electronics with the engine off
  • Lasts long due to its high-capacity charge
