What is a Pocket Coil?

A pocket coil system is a configuration found in an innerspring mattress that is constructed of singular, barrel-shaped coils, which are covered in cloth to avoid constant friction. Commonly referred to as Marshall coils, pocket springs are typically pre-compressed by certain manufacturers to create a firm sleeping surface. This pattern's main function is to help reduce motion transfer on each side of the bed, making it an ideal fit for a bed with adjustable base.
