Common Features and Benefits

Just Check & Add: You never have to change the oil.1  Engineers at Briggs & Stratton designed the engines to keep the oil cooler and cleaner, eliminating the need to change it.

Briggs & Stratton Smooth Start Plus Starting System: A reliable starting spark plug, plus ReadyStart® means there's no need for you to prime or choke the engine,  just pull for power!

Starting Promise: Starts in two pulls or Briggs & Stratton will fix it for free (applies to mowers and trimmer only).2

Lightest Engine in its Class: Provides easy maneuverability.

More Power: Due to its optimum power-to-weight ratio, you will appreciate the engine's impressive performance.

Overhead Valve (OHV): Runs cooler, so oil burns slower and eliminates the need for changing.

Larger, Angled Fuel Neck: Has twice the area of the previous model, which makes fueling easy with less mess.

Easy Maintenance: Features tool-less oil and air cleaner maintenance.

U.S. Manufacturing: Feel good about supporting American workers with this purchase. The engines are made in the U.S. of U.S. and global parts.

Ask An Expert

It's very hard for me to believe that I will never have to change the oil!

It's true. If dirt and debris get in the oil, it requires changing. But, with the engine's press-fit style air filter, dirt and debris can’t get in and ruin the oil. The overhead valve design also helps the engine run cooler and breaks the oil down slower, meaning all you have to do is add more, but never change. The improved oil fill tube also helps with keeping the oil clean.

You should still perform regular tune-ups (such as spark plug and air filter maintenance), and you MUST still check and add oil.
