An Improved Adapter for an Improved Xsporter Rack Since 2005, when Toyota added a bed track railing system to the Tacoma pickup as a standard feature, the Thule XK product line of adapters has provided easy and inexpensive compatibility between the popular Tacoma, and the feature-rich Thule Xsporter Aluminum Truck Rack. Compatibility is based on the adapter's use of the grooves of the Tacoma's railing system as an anchor position for the rack's base elements. With the 2013 release of the Thule 500 Xsporter Pro Multi-Height Aluminum Truck Rack, Thule has released a new adapter -- designed for Tacoma models manufactured 2007-present -- the Thule XK3 Xsporter Pro Toyota Tacoma Adapter. The Thule XK3 Xsporter Pro Toyota Tacoma Adapter utilizes a combination of the traditional connection via the Tacoma's railing system, a new clamping system over the top of the truck's side rails, and a bottom-aligned bolt.
