Beat the Heat with an Evaporator Core

Without an evaporator core, hot, muggy air would be trapped inside your vehicle. Since hot air naturally moves towards cooler spaces, the A/C core is the first step in cooling your car. The blower motor pulls hot air from the cab across the evaporator, where refrigerant helps create a crisp breeze in your car.

The most common malfunction that can occur with an A/C core is leaking. A leak is most likely to occur due to either a a faulty weld seam or corrosion. Corrosion can take place when leaves or dirt get onto the core and break down due to the moist atmosphere. As they break down, they may create holes and allow refrigerant to leak out. If you take your vehicle off-roading often, it's best to have your evaporator core checked and cleaned twice a year.

Should a leak occur in your A/C core, you'll need to refill it. Sears carries top of the line refrigerant so you can have your car cool again in no time. If you're having trouble with your A/C core, pick up a replacement evaporator core so you can turn your car from muggy to comfy with the flick of a switch.
