Those benefits were not conditioned on the positive or negative content of the review.
This is a beautiful refrigerator that merits the Bosch name and reputation. It has gotten a bad rap in a couple of other reviews here, from people who, I am sure, are well meaning but perhaps don't quite understand its design.
With regard to the comment about not enough ice, the owner's manual clearly advises customers to discard the first ice cubes and then allow the bin to fill. If you simply follow this direction, you have plenty of ice. If, on the other hand, you start dispensing ice 3-4 hours after you plug it in and regularly thereafter, it doesn't get the opportunity to build up a reserve. I've had several parties of 15-20 friends and family in the torrid Florida climate and never run out of ice.
With regard to remarks about having to open the doors fully before you can pull out the drawers, yes, you must do this. So when you install it, be sure to do so in a manner that lets the doors work as they are designed to work. If your unit is hard up against a wall, especially on the refrigerator side, this may not be possible for you and you should consider another brand/model. Now, is this a design flaw, as has been claimed? No, not at all. It is a consequence of giving customers the hidden hinges and full length doors that make it look so upscale and European. The doors have to swing wide because of the hinge locations and also because Bosch has wisely maximized the storage space inside. This is made perfectly clear in the user's manual.
With regard to service delays and issues. Folks, this is not a GE or a Whirlpool and there isn't going to be a service center within walking distance of your home. Bosch is essentially a niche brand. Just as with a Saab automobile, before you buy it, you better make sure you know where and how to get service. If you live in the middle of an Iowa cornfield, this may not be the perfect choice for you. Sears will help you and so will many appliance services but understand this: They will not have a large parts inventory. If they don't have something you need, they will have to order it and then you'll experience delays. You're dealing with a European company that doesn't have a huge presence in the States. If you cannot live with that, don't buy a Bosch.
With regard to size, did unsatisfied customers read the cubic foot capacity before they bought? Perhaps not. If you are scaling down from a 25-26 foot refrigerator, yes, this one--indeed, any counter depth product--is going to be a lot smaller than what you are used to. If it is too small then either (1) keep the one you are replacing--assuming it still works--and put it in the garage or (3) give up the idea of a shallow design and let a larger one stick out into your kitchen. Your choice but there's no magic from Bosch or any other manufacturer that can stuff a big fridge into a small box. The only third alternative I can think of would be to install a built-in if you have the space and money to do so.
In brief, this product is what it is, a beautiful appliance from a manufacturer with a relative small market share in the US. That has implications for parts and service availability. Finally, for goodness sake check out the fridge carefully before you buy it. Don't buy counter depth if you have massive storage needs. Don't install it in a location where it cannot work as it was designed to work. Oh, and let the machine make some ice at startup.

Great for a household of 2-3 people. Dont think it could be great for a larger family. Holds just enough food for a couple w/baby.

This refrig looks good but ice flies everywhere, parts fall off, the expensive filter must be changed. I had a cheaper Amana before that looked good, held more and worked well for literally 25 years. I wish I could have bought another. I absolutely hate this dog.

The Bosch refrigerator is an excellent looking machine and that is precisely why I purchased. Solid alternative to costlier built-ins like sub-zero. I purchased the refrigerator in August 2010 and my wife was immediately displeased with the space, particularly for things like milk and juice on the bottom shelf. Part of that is the space you concede with counter depth, so ultimately really not a big deal. The main issue is that 6 months into ownership all 3 motherboards went out and completely shut the unit down. It was already still under the manufacturers warranty and we had purchased the additional 3 year warranty from Sears. This is where it gets absolutely ridiculous. We made our first all to Sears the third week of February when the unit went down. To their credit they got us an appointment quickly (w/in 3 days) however, the first guy out informed us of the mother board issue and told us it would two weeks to get the part. Not great news...but what do you do? The truly unfortunate part is that he misdiagnosed the ice and ordered the wrong part so when the second guy came out to fix...he could not. The second guy has to order more parts....one to two more weeks. Finally a third service comes out only to tell us we stilled not have al the part we need...we are now a month in with no refrigerator. After several VERY rough calls with Sears customer service, they have agreed to simply replace the unit with something of equal value. We decided not to go with the Bosch again because of these issues and will try the Kenmore Elite...fingers crossed. Of course, Sears cannot get us the new unit now for almost three more weeks (4/13/11)...it is 3/22/11 due to distribution channel limitations (likely just cost measures) on their end. This translates to almost two full months without a refrigerator...something that Sears seems completely comfortable with. Would encourage anyone here to seriously consider alternatives to Sears and know you are likely taking chances with Bosch purchase.

First of all you need to know that this refigerator is very LOUD. It sounds like a jet airplane taking off when it is running. The good thing is that the compressor runs very little. I would say about 10 minutes out of every 60. The counter depth portion is great. There is no plroblem opening the doors. Also to address the ice maker and water dispensor, I have had no problems. I use large glasses and I have had no problems. It is also nice becuase the opening is large enough to put pitchers or larger glasses. There are many nice features to this fridge. It is very good looking and works very well. All the features they list in the advertisement are true and correct. Overall I would the fridge is very nice. For the money I feel that it could be more quiet but it is still a very nice fridge.

This is a very nice unit and I can't beleive the price mark down. I will need to keep a closer eye on sears for more of these kinds of price changes. The only thing I am not completely happy with is it is very nosie to get ice or water from this unit and you offten miss the cup all to gether with the ice dispencier. But this litte issure is very small when I look at what I paid.

Purchased this on closeout as it had all the bells and whistles. Very clean lines and nice cool glow lighting. My problem is it was on the noisy side, maybe because I have tile floors?? You could hear it grumbling for about ten minutes or so, then it would quieten down, then you would hear a rattle, maybe when the fan kicked in and that drives me nuts. I think all appliance brands have their good and not so good. I did not like the one review by someone who asked for a replacement after 3 service calls for the same issue with a compressor, but was told the warranty states repair and thats what she gets.I also noted one gentleman stated he always buys Bosch as they are German made and solid. Well, hate to break it to you big guy, but while down on my knees searching for the serial number, which is inside, lower right, it states in big black letters, MADE IN CHINA! The plug, which is also a problem because the ground prong came out of the plug, also says made in China. I don't think those Germans are driving to China everyday to make these suckers. Anyway, mine is going back, good price or not. It is a very pretty fridge though.

This is the ideal counter depth refrigerator and, of course, counter depth means it is going to be smaller than a standard refrigerator. You have to organize your food items well in this refrigerator. Also, I have found that we now waste less food because it is not hidden in the back behind the milk/juice. The refrigerator is energy star qualified. It beeps indicating the door is ajar, which is great because I have 'little ones.' It is somewhat hard to keep clean, but I have not purchased the stainless steel cleaner either. Overall, it was a great buy for my family because it was on clearance for approximately 60% of the retail price. Now, that is getting more Bang for My Buck!
The temperature controlled refrigerator drawer allows you to maintain a user-adjustable temperature independent of the rest of the interior. It has three settings depending on the type of food being stored. A control panel on the front of the freezer door shows when the "Superfreeze" and "Supercool" features are in use, it displays the temperature of both the freezer and refrigerator and both are adjustable from this control panel, it shows when the filter needs to be changed and it has a child lock button!

We had gotten a deal on this on sale. The water/ice complaint everyone is complaining about is so easy. You put your cup all the way to the back, and you get ice. You put your cup all the way to the front and you have water. No mess. You just have to put your cup under in the right place. Even my little 8 year old daughter says its easy. Love the cool blue light. This refrigerator not only looks great, but is silent. Keeps our food fresher WAY longer. Put foods in their like fish, tacos, etc. it has zero odor when you open the door due to dual evaporator. I give this an A+ for sure!!!
Cape Coral, FL
This is a first class refrigerator. The refrigerator is not only very pleasing to the eye but it maintins temperature perfectly. The controls are easy to understand. I have no idea why some people find the water and ice dispenser difficult to use. It is logical and simple to operate. None of my four children have had a problem getting water or ice once they were shown what buttons to press and where to position their glass.

I am heart-broken. I so wanted to love this fridge. Husband and I bought it to go with our brand new beautiful home, but have been totally dissapointed since. From day one the ice dispenser has been drama-provoking, spitting ice all over our kitchen floor. I am the only one in our family who has figured out how to keep it to a minimum, so needless to say, I'm getting up from the kitchen table a lot to get everybody their ice; something that any child should be able to do on their own..... Then we went to clean the fridge. I can't tell you for sure whether all of the shelves are removable or not, but I sure wasn't going to force it more than I already had. Little crevaces got icky in a few short months, and I couldn't get to them to clean. And I'd hoped the higher quality fridge would have a better stainless steel facade. Nope. It gets dirtier and is harder to clean than all of our other GE stainless appliances that came with the house. Too bad. Side holders are cheaply made. The metal-looking plastic liner falls off every other time we open the fridge door. Not one of these things alone was a deal breaker, but all together, considering the price, I wouldn't buy anything Bosch again. I do have to say, though, after a little bit of moving up through the Sears Customer Solutions ladder, I was able to negotiate a replacement (non Bosch) after the 90-day limit. I was totally surprised and thrilled that Sears is still a stand-up company. I'll continue to shop with them and encourage my friends to do so too!
