    I bought this because it was priced lower than the GE brand. I've had it installed for about a month, and I see no difference in performance from the original GE filter.

    Can't comment on how well the filter works - it wouldn't fit on the fitting properly (at least not without use of a crowbar). Will now go in search of original amana/kenmore replacement filter.

    I have always used the GE SmartWater filter, but was unable to purchase one at our local Sears. Salesman told me the Brita would would work just as well. After installing and letting the water run to rid the line of excess air, noticed that the water flow was dimished over the SmartWater Filter. Without prodding, my son also noticed a difference. In the case of an "emergency" replacement, it fits, and is OK. But the reduced water flow is annoying at the very least. I'm going to buy the SmartWater filter online so I don't need to buy one of these again.
