Chamberlain makes a good opener
I had a Chamberlain 1/2 hp garage door opener at my old house - that one was about 7 years old when I sold the house and still working excellent. Then, when we bought our current home, this same model was installed. Not sure when the previous owners had installed it, but it was very dependable - lasted 8 years for us. We purchased the same unit to replace the one that stopped working and saved time on installation because the existing track did not have to be replaced. I highly recommend this unit - very dependable!

I had Sears install the Chamberlain 1/2 hp Lift Master Professional and the unit lasted only 4 years before it quit. In looking at the inside the gears are a light weight plastic. The repair estimates from four different service people are in the $160-$200 range for a "gear kit". That is the same or more cost as a new unit. Another product from a large local garage door company had a different brand but it looked very similiar. Same cost as Sears but their unit also used plastic gears. My feeling is all of these poor quality units are made in the same factory with a different logo slapped on the outside.

Installed and using this for a few weeks. I was replacing a older, similar unit, so the process was simplified. As i consulted the instructions they seemed a little confusing with small details. *Hint* Use the "kit contains" section in the front to determine the correct part. Trust me, I am a mechanic, and this aint common sense. But install and adjustments were done in good time. Unit is fast enough, I like the wall pad, and the remotes have great range. Mine came with a bonus outside wireless wall remote. Pretty cool.

Chamberlain Garage Door Opener is perfect for my garage!
I am a first time home owner and built a garage to my house this fall. Didn't realize how much I would need a automatic garage door opener until this winter! I got one for Christmas and have it installed already! I love it! Makes getting in and out so much easier!

The Chamberlain Garage Door Opener is powerful and quiet
I had to purchase a new garage door opener when our 1970 unit finally shredded its gears. I knew I wanted a Chamberlain, and my repair guy said a 1/2 hp would be sufficient for when I upgrade my garage door in the next few years. Always make sure you have enough horsepower! I then compared between belt and chain, and felt chain would be sufficient. This unit seemed to meet all my needs and was the best price of any site online or any local store. I am shocked how quiet it is after our old unit. The unit also has the now standard sensors, which is great for our young family. We also live in the Midwest and since its been installed we've had a blizzard, 50 degree weather, then ice storm and power outage. But this unit has handled whatever weather has been thrown at it. Great!!
