Cobra microTALK CXR700 - Digital two-way radio - FRS/GMRS - 22-channel (pack of 2 )

The CXR700 comes in an ultra-compact GMRS/FRS two-way radio value pack with a range of up to 25 miles. The radios include rechargeable high capacity lithium ion batteries and a two-port desktop charger. The desktop charger wall adapter can also charge one radio through its speaker/microphone/charge jack. Other features include VibrAlert silent paging, VOX hands free operation, 10-channel memory, 142 privacy codes and a scan feature. You can save as many as 10 channels in the memory and then scan as many as you would like!

Automatically shuts off weak transmissions or unwanted noise due to terrain or range constraints
Secures your microTALK radio while on the go
Allows the user to scan either channels, privacy codes within a channel, or memory locations, to locate conversations in progress

Allows the user to differentiate between up to 10 different parties on incoming calls
Overrides Auto Squelch to provide extended range reception

Choose between high power to maximize range, or Low Power to conserve battery life (in GMRS)

Good radio for the price December 17, 2009

I picked up a set of these on the Day after Thanksgiving as kind of an on the fly purchase. We use them mainly for keeping in touch at the mall, around the house, outside at the park (and yes I go to the park in December, Im crazy like that). The work for over a two mile range in the FRS mode and I have gotten them up to about 16 Miles in the GMRS mode. Although it is advertised at getting up to 25 miles, but that may have been because of the weatehr conditions at the time. Only thing to remember is you do need to get an FCC licence to use the GMRS.

This radio DOES NOT have a 25 mile capable talking distance as indicated by the promotion. I drove only one block away from my home and we lost communication. We live in the country side, where there are no interferences or buildings to block the signal. I expected a lot more from this radio, and was very disapointed considering the expensive price. DON'T BUY IT... if you want something nice, I recommend buying something a little more professional; you get what you pay for.

these radios are pretty good its says the cobra two-way radio you can talk up to 25 miles and you can well at least 20 miles and you can still hear each other real good like your right next to each other has alot of channels on it no to many is even on them
