What is a Central Vacuum System?

With central vacuums, a lightweight hose and power brush are the only tools you need. Wall inlets, similar to electrical outlets, are installed in each room of your house. The hose is plugged into the outlet like you'd plug in a traditional vacuum, and dirt and debris are carried through tubing installed within the walls to a stationary receptacle in an out-of-the-way location like your laundry room, basement or garage. Central vacs have tons of perks, like the ability to install automatic dustpans so you can quickly sweep debris into a wall vent using a regular broom. Cleanup is virtually effortless because the main unit is permanent and doesn't have to be emptied often.
