Complete The Look

by Jill Manoff

Some things are just better together. A classic example? Denim and shades of tan. It’s an easy pairing we’ve been wearing for years, and—thanks to all the new styles—we have no plans to stop. We’re buying up jeans in new cuts and unexpected washes, plus handbags and shoes in camel, russet and rust—all based on our usual justification: What's hot this second will work in our wardrobe for seasons.

Love the look? It’s easy to score. Just add these accessories to your closet this season, and throw them on (one at a time, or three!) with your next denim-heavy look.

You can’t go wrong with a leather or suede style . You’ll wear them with boyfriend jeans, cuffed skinnies, time and time again.

Go for a classic espadrille or pick a wedge with a wooden platform. It will look chic with a number of looks, from bells to shirtdresses.

A Saddle Bag
Look for a rounded shape, a top flap and a long, crossbody strap. You’ll sling it on all season—over chambray shirts , jean jackets and so much more.

A Belt
A tan belt is our fave way to break up a denim-on-denim look. Pick a style with a medium width (Just under an inch is perfect!) and gold hardware. You’ll wear it for years.

The Jewelry: Gold, Every Which Way
Top it all off with ever-chic, gold jewelry. For day, delicate studs and a single strand necklace will complement your denim look to perfection. For night? Dress up your blues with a mix of chunky styles, stacked with abandon.
