Holiday Trimmings: The Season's Must-Wear Accessories

by Jill Manoff

You’ve got your party dresses. Now what? For the holidays, perfect accessories are just as important for making you look and feel special, from earlobes to toes. Lucky for you, we’re spelling out our tops picks of the season—so you can hit the town dashing, in more ways than one.

The Faux Leather Clutch
A frame clutch made of pebbled faux leather feels right on trend, but will look chic forever. This season, pick a style sized strictly for the essentials—and carry it to parties with casual-to-cocktail dress codes and beyond.

The Statement Necklace
This season, a bold bib necklace with can’t-miss stones is just what you need to make any outfit party-perfect. Our faves include styles with festive, emerald-look baubles and gold-and-black collars that work night and day.

Bold Earrings
Some members of our staff won’t leave their house without a pair of earrings. This season? They’ll be living in these: studs, drops and mega-chandeliers with colorful stones and unexpected elements. (Hello, leopard print!)

Ankle-Strap Heels
The current must-have shoe takes a less-is-more approach. The makings? Simple: An elevating heel, a wear-with-all (from LBDs to boyfriend jeans) color and delicate straps that skim the ankle and toes.

The Dramatic Mani
For the holidays, break from powdery-pink and barely-there manis—and venture to the dark side of your salon’s polish wall. The new shades for nails borrow from fashion’s reigning palette—think next-to-black hues of bordeaux and midnight blue—and look best on oval tips that are trimmed to a T.

The “It” Lip
Every holiday, we’re faced with the same challenge: Look “in-the-spirit” without skewing cheesy. This year? A makeup trend is set to prove just the thing: Red lipstick. We’ll wear it matte for work, glossy for play, again and again all season.
