Blue Crush

by Jill Manoff

If we had to guess, we’d say the beach was the inspiration for many a Spring/Summer collection; stores are chock-full of pieces that seem to have stemmed from a seaside excursion. (We wouldn’t be surprised if they were signed, “Wish you were here!”) There are dip-dyed shirts that look faded by the sun, cascading hemlines that conjure up images of waves and plenty of accents that appear plucked from the shore, all in a variety of luring blue shades. It's a trend we love, and it's easy to work. Just throw on any aquatic style that floats your boat! These are a few of our current top picks:

A High-Low Dress
Our idea of the quintessential summer dress? This light-as-air number with its pool-inspired print and chic, high-low hem. (We’ll wear it when we're beach-bound, about town, time and time again all season!)

A High-Impact Necklace
Ever suckers for pieces that make an outfit but don't break the bank, we're all about this bold, bib necklace. We plan to wear it throughout summer with tees, tanks, all of our too-simple separates.

A Sun-Faded Shirt
The one shirt every girl needs? A bright-as-can-be button-up that can be worn every which way. We love this of-the-moment, dip-dyed style worn tied over cutoffs and long-and-loose over bikinis.

Outfit-Making Sandals
The next best thing to barefoot-in-the-sand? Dipping your toes into the biggest shoe trend of the season (Trust us!)—think strappy sandals with statement embellishments in teal, turquoise, cobalt and sky.

A Tie-Dyed Swimsuit
The tie-dye trend is back in a big way for summer, lending a chic, laid-back vibe to styles across the board. Our favorites? Groovy swimsuits in all the latest cuts: monokinis, tankinis, the list goes on.
