7 Denim Washes We're Loving Right Now

by Jill Manoff

When it comes to denim, we’ll never tire of blues—and why would we? With each new season comes styles in new, trendy shades, each as covetable and wearable as any before. Case in point: These fresh-for-fall washes are currently making waves and adding interest to our pile. (Pick a fave, or score all seven!)

7 Denim Washes

Light as Can Be
Next-to-white jeans after Labor Day? Trust us. The new take on the hot summer staple is set to go strong through winter—and we couldn’t be happier about it. It adds a sleek vibe to looks across the board, and it’s oh-so-easy: Add a denim shirt or a matchy sweater, and go.
Your best bet: A skinny style

Tie-dyed, “sun-faded,” however you work it, bleached denim is in. Pair it with white to tame the look, or with even more denim to go full-on trendy.
Your best bet: A skinny style

Tees and tanks, meet your match. This season, our weekend go-to is a pair of comfy denim in a light-blue wash (distressing, optional!). We wear them cuffed, with casual tops across the board—every chance we get.
Your best bet: A boyfriend style

We couldn’t talk musts without including medium blues. They never go out of style and work every time. Load up this season, with no regrets: You’ll wear them here and there, for years to come.
Your best bet: A skinny style

When it comes to shopping dark-blue denim, go for ultra-saturated styles that hug every curve. We like them best as part of a retro look, paired with flirty heels and a plain white tee.
Your best bet: A cropped style

This season, store your bright denim, and stock up on styles in deep, rich shades. A near-navy style should top your list—followed by skinnies in oxblood, hunter and plum.
Your best bet: A skinny style

Dark as Can Be
Going from day to night? Go for the new, super-dark jeans. They have a dressier feel than traditional blues, and are great for elongating legs—especially when paired with heels! Your best bet: A straight style
