More Power Please.! November 24, 2010

This is an awesome sander for the price. It's a good heavy unit and appears to be made pretty well. The metal casing and rubber feet gives it good stability. The only draw back is the 1/3hp motor is a little under powered. If it had at least a 1/2hp motor it would be excellent.

The only other drawback is you have to remove a plastic cover to replace the sanding belt. I Like the older model where the cover was open on one side and the belt could be replaced in seconds. But for light woodworking and smaller pieces you can't go wrong with this unit.

I got my sander for projects around the house works well for light projects truing corners on trim rounding corners and just light sanding. This saw is under powered I suggest medium to fine belts only coarse belts bog this sander down if you could replace the motor with the next size up it would be a great little sander

Perfect for my garage hobby work; plenty of power for all my woods, hard and soft. Easy to change belts in a few minutes. Heavy enough to stay in place on workbench. If you are careful you can change the disc paper on sander without removing cover...

The Sears bench top belt sander is a quality piece of equipment, but is a bit under-powered. For the price, it is a work horse and is configured for ease of use and changing belts and disks. The dust chute, when connected to a good shop vac, will eliminate most of the dust it generates.
