    The Nextec 12-volt is the perfect drill for around the house May 15, 2010

    I had been searching for a drill for around 6 months, looking at all the major competitors, including Sears.  For one, they had the most options and some of the best prices.

    I was in the market for a powerful drill that can do any job at home.  I work in retail and I'm an accountant so I'm not building a shed or a deck anytime soon.  We looked at the different brands, tried out a few of the 18 and 19.2 volt drills, including Craftsman.  The main problem was with my wife having Fibromyalgia and myself having tennis elbow, most of these powerful drills had a lot of kickback and were heavy.  I saw the Nextec 12 volt Lithion-Ion drill and decided to do some research.  This drill actually had more torque than some of the higher volt drills.

    I tried it out and it was extremely lightweight in comparison to the other larger drills.  I made the purchase wondering if I was just going to return it a week later.  To my pleasant suprise, it had a enough torque to get the small jobs I needed done quickly without a terrible kickback.  With tennis elbow, that's a big deal.

    The weight, size, torque, and the fact I have had this drill for 3 months and haven't had to charge the battery once after the initial charge make this one of the best values in a household drill I have ever experienced.

    Good drill. Bad screwdriver... May 04, 2010

    Nice, portable, useable Drill.  Batteries last plenty long(two weeks the way I use it)

    I use it as a screwdriver for electronics - this is not great!  I have it set to the minimum torque on the clutch and it still strips out even the larger screws.

    Also, the switches are not meant to be used I guess?  I've had mine 3 months,one has failed, returned for another and the second one is already starting to fail(hard to switch from forward to reverse) so this one will go back to the store too.  I switch back and forth more often than usual(10 - 15 times/day) but at the same pace my panasonic cordless drill lasted for a lot of years(batteries killed over on me).

    This could be a very nice product if craftsman spent a litle more time to make this a more durable thing.  Who knows, maybe they'll update the switches with better ones and I can be happy again.  I guess i'll find out soon, I give it about another week to complete failure.

    I bought my first 12 Volt Nextec cordless drill/driver about 9 months ago. I bought it as part of a set with the right angle 12 Volt Nextec Impact driver. I have to say I love both of them. I like them so much that I bought another of the drills, one of the 12 volt hammer drills, as well as numerous batteries. I use them for almost everything. The motor is powerful and never hesitates when I call on it for something. I'm impressed with the long-lasting batteries as well. I have several 18 volt and one 19.2 Volt Craftsman cordless drill and I've just about replaced all of them with the little 12 Volt Nextec drill. While not as fast as my Dewalt 18Volt, I have been well pleased with the speeds of my 12 volt Nextec. I love the light weight of the drill/battery combination and that I can use all my old drill accessories with the 12 Volt. The only limitation I have seen is that the Li Ion batteries work at a constant speed until the very end of their charge and then the cut off, as opposed to the Ni-cad batteries which begin to get slower and slower and exhibit less power. I find that the Nextec drill is easy to carry around, easily to use in tight locations due to its small size.. I find that I am turning to this 12 drill/driver for probably 90% of the things that I used to use the bigger drills for. I have even used it to drive 2-2 1/2" screws with success.

    Great for those small jobs. Also very useful in hard to reach spots. The weight and feel of the drill was awesome. I use this drill up on a ladder and it's size and weight are barely noticeable.

    Bought this drill for light houshold duty, battery lasts really well and recharges quick I was going to buy an extra batteryy but don't need one due to above reasons

    I recently purchased this drill for work, I install car electronics all day long, and really depend on my tools to do my job effectively...this drill provides me with being small, to get under all dashes, and into all center consoles. When the drill is about to go dead, it will cut off once, or twice which tells me it's time to change the lithium ion battery. I love this drill, awsome job sears.....
