    Craftsman Beam Torque Wrench is a good tool for the price. March 29, 2011

    This Torque wrench is solid, good quality, and so far accurate. The only thing I do not like is that it's difficult to read the dial depending on the angle you're holding the tool. But if you can't afford the other torque wrench style or don't have hard to access bolts this tool gets the job done well.

    Inexpensive, Works, but both scales popped off during first use. January 03, 2011

    Simple is good. This thing works. But, first time I used it both N/M and FT/LBS scales popped off. Luckily I had just calibrated it and simply epoxied them back on with the needle at the zero. This will now never come off. Absolutely, no excuse for this to happen. I thought- "this must be made in China". Nope- Made in USA. Embarrassing.

    Well made through out. To properly get the right amount of torque, while turning the wrench you must keep the handle in the middle without touching the shaft and slowly turn. Also you must read the torque while it is turning. The scale may be hard to read if you are working with odd angles. I put a small magnet taped with a pointed red arrow paper and set it to where I want, so once the needle touch the red arrow, I stop.

    I recently purchased this torque wrench online and went to pick it up at my local Sears store. I had been using a Craftsman Micro Clicker wrench which worked well, but didn't have as high a torque rating as I needed. Started using this manual type and I love it. There is no fumbling with dials and adjustments, just torque and watch. Easy

    I have had this torque wrench for many years, not sure how long. But I guess, since the 80's or so. It has did what was needed of it, in my engine rebuilding, etc. No complains, still to this day, it works as it should, not sure how accurate it is, has been abused alot. No complains, for a tool to last this long, many, many years, without breaking. It has been a very good investment!

    I got this torque wrench a few weeks ago so that I could get the proper torque on the caliper bolts of my car. I had a nightmare of a time getting the bolts off in the first place because they were drastically over-torqued, and I didn't want a repeat the next time I go to replace the pads. The wrench was accurate to within 2 lb according to my neighbor's much more expensive digital wrench, and that's good enough for me. It is a little hard to read considering the meter faces straight up, so unless the bolt is facing you (not bloody likely if you're working on a car unless it's a lug nut), you have to get creative to get it on there at an angle you can read it. I ended up turning my wheel all the way to the opposite direction and then using a universal joint socket connector to give myself enough angle on it. However, with this kind of wrench there's really no other way to position the meter so I can't hold that against it. It's just something to keep in mind. Length wasn't an issue for me because everywhere I used it had lots of space, but the wrench is almost as long as my 18 inch breaker bar, so that's something else to keep in mind. All in all, it's a cheap, easy to use wrench that would make a good addition to the tool collection of any home mechanic who doesn't need a fancy wrench.
