A solid starter set.
I was given one of these 154-pc. Mechanics tool sets from my girlfriend as a Christmas gift. I have to admit I can not think of a gift I was ever more excited to receive. If you are looking for a tool kit to keep in your trunk this one would be awesome. This kit would also be a very good starter kit for a mechanic who has yet to buy his own tools. Add a couple items like slip-joint pliers, an adjustable wrench or two, maybe a pair of needle-nose pliers and a couple of "stubby screwdrivers" (there is plenty of extra room in the case to add your own) and this kit goes from good to excellent. The fact that CRAFTSMAN tools have a full warranty covering free repair and replacement (I have even received a new 9/16" wrench from SEARS in exchange for one I am fairly sure was purchased by my grandfather before I even knew what "Righty -Tighty, Lefty-loosy" was supposed to mean) I would trust them in my home and shop alike.

I was shocked to discover that upon purchasing this set that the ratchets were not Craftsman... Not only that, but they were not even made in the USA. They are stamped Tool Bench, Made in Taiwan. How is this even possible?!?! And of course the 1/2" Drive slipped on first use. Other than the ratchets all is good, but how does this happen? I havent heard back from Craftsman on this yet.. I would hope that the ratchets get replaced. If so I will update my review.
