Brake blade clutch disengages blade but keeps the engine running. Provides greater convenience by eliminating the need to restart the engineThe 3-in-1 feature means that the unit can mulch, bag or discharge right out of the box. There are no tools required to change from any of the 3 cutting modes. The 21" Hi-Tunnel deck delivers better bagging and mulching performance. For different handle height needs, this model has a 3 position feature. The Single Point height adjuster adjusts all four wheels with one lever. Fully assembled, 2 year limited warranty.

    Long Life Mower November 29, 2008

    I would like to say that i purchased this mower in 2002 and it has been one of the best mowers i ever owned . I did have the problem that most reviews have had with the rear wheels disengaging, But the main complaint that i have is that i expected it to last like a real Honda mower that my neighbor has had for over 15 years. Not gonna happen. I just finished the 2008 mowing season so that puts my mower a about 7years old. The area behind the front wheels completely rusted away and the front axle is now just flopping around with no way to repair. also the front area between the front wheels has large chunks of metal falling out. With that said i am still thinking about getting another one since they are on sale and i have had no problems with the motor or wheels wearing out which was the main problems i had wit the regular craftsman mower.

    The engine is great but the craftsman part of the deal is terrible. Had to replace both back wheels already and the grass bag. Now the right rear wheel only pulls part of the time. The adjustment for cutting height is great. Belt stretches and the walk behind speed is somewhat slower now.

    I purchased this one with hesitation, since I've never owned a higher-end push mower. I chose this model (with the Honda engine) to hopefully avoid some problems I've had with other B&S engines. It starts fine, mulches great, and has no problems with deck height adjustments. It does, however, have a problem with the bagger but the biggest problem by far is the lever, to engage and lock in the blades, broke after just a few uses. Now its in the shop for at least two weeks. I guess I should have more closely examined the plastic housing which concealed flimsy springs and a piece of metal wire controling the action before the purchase, but it seemed to work fine on display. Hopefully the repair job will be better than the original workmanship. I don't plan to continue hauling it back every other month for warranty work.

    I had to give this mower a full check-out before writing a review on it. God knows most people never come back to say anything positive about a product, but this mower deserves the praise for sure. Great mower, AWESOME engine. This mower starts right up with HALF a pull EVERY time. The variable speed transmission is a welcome upgrade from the 5 year old version of this very same mower I owned prior. The hand trigger for the drive allows variable input to govern speed or torque for those lawn "sticky spots" or hills. Being newly disabled this is invaluable to me as I can control drive speed. This mower does drag you around the yard kinda quickly if you pull the drive lever fully. No regrets here.
