    Good 12amp circular saw February 12, 2011

    The saw worked well for the project I did. It cut through a 2x4 and a laminate shelf just fine. It is a bit heavy and a little awkward (because I'm a girl). Changing the blade was a bit awkward. Holding the button to stop the blade and turning the bolt at the same time was hard but doable. I look forward to using it more this summer.

    Definately not a precision tool! February 16, 2011

    The sled on this saw did not line up with the blade. I tried to use a straight edge with this saw and it was not possible. I started my cut with the sled against the edge and all went well until the blade was about halfway into the cut, at this point the blade directed me into the straight edge until the saw hit a bind. Upon measuring the front and back of the blade in relation to the edge of the sled, I found a 1/32nd discrepancy. This may not sound like much, but it is enough to draw the blade and sled into the straight edge, making it impossible to make a cut with a straight edge. To me, this is unacceptable. The reason I gave it two stars, rather than one, is because it had good power to cut through 3/4 inch ply. If you never plan on using a straight edge and cut only with the blade notch, you will be fine with this saw. If precision woodwork is your thing, look somewhere else.

    so far so good with this saw lighter than i expected it to weight but seems to work well .needed it to cut some trim for around my doorway

    The Craftsman Evolv 18780 has excellent power and is ergonomically designed to be easy to use. The locking depth gauge is very positive and feels like you don't have to worry about it coming loose during your job. Very good alignment aids and perfect hand grips to keep it stable when using. Great value for the money and I'm hoping the longevity of this tool matches my satisfaction that I have with it so far.
