    My best mower yet.... August 31, 2008

    I bought this mower to replace my 22" front-wheel drive Craftsman mower that served me very dependably for the past 13-14 years. I love the Honda engine, which is considerably more quiet than my Briggs & Stratton. It does a great job cutting my Zoysia lawn - which is very thick and tough-to-cut turf grass. I use the Hi-Tunnel bag system, and actually like it better than my old rear bag because it opens to such a wide-mouth for dumping. The one-touch height adjusters for front wheels, and another for the rear, sure beat having to set 4 wheels individually. My rear wheel drive works very well - just as my Dad's rear wheel drive Craftsman mower did when I was younger. Its different from my front wheel drive (where I can just press down on the handlebar to lift the front wheel off the ground to disengage), but it took me 10 minutes to get used to a rear-drive system again -- and now I actually prefer it to the front drive. I find the variable speed drive to be very handy, although I must admit I run at the highest speed 90% of the time (I'm 50 years old, so I'm not a teenager). This mower will PULL its weight, plus the clippings in the bag - and I love that it has that pulling power. Another nice point is - and I'm not sure exactly why it is the case - the smoothness of the cut is much nicer with this mower than my old one (which I still have, btw). I keep sharp blades on both mowers due to the toughness of the Zoysia in my yard. I have 3 blades for each mower, and change them after 6-8 mowings to keep them very sharp -- so the eveness is not due to me having a sharp blade on a new mower, etc. I mow in a large circular pattern around my irregularly shaped yard - working inward from the outer edges. My other mower gives me height differences as I round my corners -- almost as though I'm leaning into a corner. This mower doesn't do that. Going around all my corners and around all my trees, the cutting height is very, very consistent. I am very, very pleased with my mower. I would highly recommend this model to anyone who wants to treat themselves to a solid, dependable - and quiet - power-propelled mower. ps - I grew up using a Wheel Horse tractor, but had to use "walk behind" mowers whenever my Dad wanted us to pick up the grass -- or to trim the yard after using the tractor. I cannot imagine anyone not getting a power propelled system - either rear wheel or front wheel - on their walk behind mowers. Go Craftsman! Go Honda! What an excellent combo...

    Poor design October 23, 2008

    Bought this mower this last Sat.(10/18/08) took it back the next day. The only thing that is great is the Honda engine. The rear wheel drive is nice but if you have to back the mower up forget it needs some sort of neutral for the drives. The large front wheels get in the way its harder to steer. The bagging system just ruined my day after two bags spilling all over my new mower when removing it was time to resort back to my old craftsman.(it also likes doing wheelies,great power).

    I liked the lawnmower until week number six when the self-propelled quit working.  Took it back to the store for a full refund, salesman said I could take it for service. 

    I'm a single mother and I can't full with loading and unloading a lawnmower.  It's new - It SHOULD work longer than six weeks!!!

    Pros:
    GREAT EQUIPMENT

    I live in Florida and have St Augustine grass the toughest lawn to mow.  The Craftsman 21 in. Deck Rear Bag Rear Propelled Lawn Mower starts every time mows the thick grass with ease.  The wide rubber wheels roll easily through the grass even when the self propelled is not engaged.  Always buy the Protection Agreement for piece of mind but have only used it once in 2 years.

    I bought the craftsman rwd honda hi vac just yesterday.  I filled it with oil and gas and fired it up.  What an awesome sound!  The motor runs great and has plenty of power. I am replacing a 48 inch walk behind so it was going to take alot to please me and this mower did just that.  I am so suprised how great this mower is.  I mowed the entire lawn on a quart of gas.  Could'nt ask for anything more absolutely awesome.
