    Good value, Craftsman name and quality. November 29, 2011

    My last snow blower lasted 28 years. It died just as we were trying to sell and move so something reasonable yet a two stage was needed and this filled the bill. Big enough to handle that nasty frozen muck the plow leaves in front of the driveway. Last year we had over five feet of snow so doing 175 feet of sidewalk and a 100 foot driveway with a shovel was out of the question. Nice size tires, not hard to start, even the lack of a reverse wasn't that bad. Without a transmission engaged this machine rolls pretty easy. Suggestion for new owners, start with fresh gas and a fresh gas can. The debris in an old gas can and gas that has turned to varnish will sabotage the best new machine.

    Not Satisfied at all December 12, 2011

    Unit started after several pulls and ran very poorly for about 10 minutes with loud clanking noise coming from the engine until something broke inside....I was left stuck having to shovel all the plowed snow at the end of my driveway just to get out to go to work (I'm 62 so that was no easy task).  The store took the unit back with no problems and refunded my money, so thank you Sears for taking care of that. I bought a different brand and am now satisfied.  Buyer Beware of the engine on this snow thrower.

    Had this snow blower for one season and it didn't get too much use. However I found that it was easy to assemble and the price was good. Sears' online ordering and pickup service were flawless unlike the challenges you'll face ***************. The one issue I found so far is that it is impossible to drain the oil without a lot of odd contortions to keep it all from spilling on the ground. The intended drain pipe is about 1/8" too short so that the oil drops onto the deck of the machine instead of being able to fall into a container. If you tilt the the unit back while draining you have a better chance of collecting the oil. This is an unfortunate reflection on our engineering education system which revolves around mathematical modeling and provides no hands on experience.

    After getting 23 years of great service out of a 24" Sears Snowblower, I downsized to this 22" model. Am I sorry. The chute clogs continuously if the snow has the slightest moisture content. It won't thrown the snow far enough if it's light snow. The whole second stage paddle and chute system needs to be redesigned. Also, the tires leak air.

    I was more than pleased with the whole purchase experience in Lake Geneva Wisconsin Sears Store.  The salesperson could not have been more helpful   The product was a great value and I was impressed with its performance a few days later when we had 11 inches of snow.  More than enough power and its relatively compact size is a perfect fit to my needs.  No reverse was not an issue since the 40 year old Craftsman thrower which finally died did not have reverse either.  I have one big complaint though.  The owners manual was abyssmal.  All of the call outs on the exploded views were literally illegible!  Useless is a better word!  I have been a technical writer for 37 years specializing in machinery so I know a bad manual even when others don't.  Believe me...this one is bad.  And to make matters worse it was printed on very low quality flimsy newsprint like paper.

    Great product...horrible manual.
