    backpack blower February 08, 2008

Starts fine and lightweight. Has plenty of power for most jobs. The fan blade is not attached securely to the engine shaft and shaft starts to spin creating a hole in the fan which will no longer turn. Happened on two machines. As of 2-7-08 parts were not available for repair.

    Bad blower May 10, 2008

I received the 79499 backpack blower as a present. It had the 30 cc engine and was rated at 485 cfm and 180 mph. Only used it about 4-5 times before it fell apart. Brought it back for warranty repairs, and one month later I got back a pile of parts. They wrote something about an exchange yadda yadda yadda. Went to Sears store and the "replacement" they gave me isn't even close on paper to what I had. The "replacement" has a 25 cc engine, is rated for 400 cfm, and only 175 mph. The replacement is model number 79499 and I'm afraid to even try and use it . The kicker is the fact that the "replacement" is only warranted for the remainder of my original warranty. Poor customer service in my opinion. The only reason I'm rating it two stars is because I'm afraid this blower won't be any better.

The Craftsman 25cc backpack blower was light and easy to operate August 26, 2010

    Pros:
    light and easy to use
    Cons:
it didn't seem to blow hard enough.

I thought it was easy to operate.  The blower went together fairly easily and didn't require much effort.  Snapping the pieces together took a bit of leverage.  It took about 10 minutes from box to use.  The hand trigger was nice.  It moved fluidly as I went back and forth with the blower tube.  The blower tube swiveled left to right as I moved, making it comfortable to operate.  The cruise control feature to lock the trigger was nice and made it comfortable for long periods of run time.  I didn’t have to hold in a trigger which prevented a hand cramp.  The only draw backs was it seemed to be under powered and was difficult to take off when done because the shoulder straps weren’t really adjustable. It move gravel , sticks and mulch that the kids had accidentally kicked on the pavement in the driveway when playing. Overall I did like the performance and would recommend to buy.

Light and easy to use. June 09, 2010

    Pros:
light and easy to use, worth the price
    Cons:
    several steps to turn on

I bought this about a month ago and so far have enjoyed using it.  This is my first blower so I am not an expert but I find it light and easy to use. I especially like the fact that it is a backback as I would probably get tired of trying to carry the handheld blowers around my yard.  One minor annoyance is it takes about 5 steps to turn it on.  I'm not sure if other gas blowers have to go through a similar number of steps.

Other than that - it does the job and it's worth the price.
