    Great Tractor May 02, 2008

    This a is my 3rd Sears Garden Tractor, best so far. 1st, 1985 18HP stick. not so good many issues, 2nd 1995, 24HP automatic, good but mower clogged always needed cleaning, otherwise good. Sold to neighbor, I wanted something little bigger. I have 1.5 acres to mow and use hard. This has tons more power, much tighter turning radius. Uses less gas also. 54" Mower does not clog or load up even with wet heavy grass. Only issue is on very un-even ground, mower does not have much vertical travel and may hang up and lift drive wheel off ground.

    Substandard Transmission August 20, 2008

    I bought an 18 HP gear shift garden tractor in 1984. Very happy and satisfied. I only replaced as in 2006 the mower deck was rusting away after 22 years and I thought that I would upgrade to the 27 HP hydrstatic drive. The 27 HP was a poor performer in reverse on shallow grades, I returned it and then purchased a 26 HP gear shift. In less than 2 years I have had 3 transmissions replaced. Also the Snow Blower Attachment keeps destroying belts. I don't know if I will ever buy a Sears Craftsman Tractor again. Note the repair technician told me not to place the wheel weights that Sears lists as options as it is not made for that weight.

    I PURCHASED A 2007 GTS6500 54 INCH MOWER WITH THE KOHLER ENGINE. I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE MOTOR. SOLID PERFORMER.THE REST OF THE MOWER IS  A POOR DESIGN. I BOUGHT THIS MOWER TO MULCH MY YARD WITH IT. THIS DECK CLOGS UP EVERY TIME,DESPITE CHANGING BLADES AND USING GATOR BLADES FOR THE JOB, NOTHING HELPS. THE MOWER DECK KEEPS THROWING THE BELT EVERY OTHER MONTH. THE TRANSMISSION BELT KEEPS POPPING OFF FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. THE TRANSMISSION PULLEYS ARE NOT SEALED BEARINGS SO ANY WATER GETS IN THEM  DESTROYS THE BEARINGS. I HAVE A 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHICH WAS REPLACED AFTER SIX MONTHS. THEY ARE USING A TECUMSEH-PEERLESS TRANSMISSION WHICH IS SEALED FROM THE FACTORY, YOU ARE UNABLE TO CHANGE THE OIL. ITS A DIXIE-CUP TRANNY, ABSOLUTE JUNK. AMERICAN YARD PRODUCTS IS BUILDING THESE TRACTORS AND THEY ARE DEFINETLEY INFERIOR TO WHAT SEARS USED TO SELL IN THE 90S. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO RUN, NOT WALK AWAY FROM THIS TRACTOR. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY SEARS TRACTOR WITHOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, OR YOU WILL BE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE. I TRIED TO SELL THIS TRACTOR ON ***** AND CAN'T EVEN GET HALF THE MONEY THAT I LAID DOWN FOR THIS TRACTOR NEW. SEARS NEEDS TO CHANGE MANUFACTURERS!.
