    3-Drawer Tool Box Makes a Great Sewing Box April 09, 2011

    It may not be the intended use, but this tool box makes a great sewing box. It is easy to carry, very portable, and has LOTS of great storage compartments for all my bobbins, needles, tracing papers, seam rippers, notions, trims, and all the gadgets and gimcracks I need for sewing projects. Keeps eveything neatly organized -- and at a price that is so much less than the sewing shops charge!

    3-Drawer Portable Tool Box does not last May 10, 2010

    I selected this plastic, portable tool box to haul my tools around the house for small DIY jobs.  One reason for choosing Craftsman is the legendary warranty, which has started to fade recently. 

    After light usage, the locking mechanism for the first drawer broke.  Which essentially means whenever the tool box is picked up, the top drawer slides out and dumps my tools.

    When I attempted to exchange the tool box with Sears, I was greeted with rudeness and told that without a receipt I was "out of luck" since this was not covered by the warranty.  I would not buy this product again - especially if one wanted the portability features of the tool box.

    Overall the price of the portable chest is fair there are problems that come with the price. The drawers when filled tend to stick or are not easy to pull out when there is not enough weight in the tool box. Needs to be able to anchor onto truck bed.

    I had been using this box for vehicle maintenance on fleet vehicles for about 4 years before I started having problems. The aluminum grips on the drawers began sliding off and at one point the grip had slid part of the way off on the bottom drawer and a friend walked past the box and tripped on the grip, yanking the drawer out hard. This broke the locking mechanism. I pulled the drawers out and discovered the broken latch was plastic and non replaceable. If the latch was either made of steel or replaceable I'm fairly certain I could have hung onto this box for many more years. I won't be buying another though. My use is pretty heavy, so I'll be getting a steel box to replace it. Might be an ok box for weekend hobbyist though.

    -Good box till the drawer latch broke.2 of them._Had this for 4 years. -If you dont move it around or carry it in the back of your van or truck it may last._Also dont put a lot of tools in it.

    Would of preferred a metal case to the plastic or fiberglass case I got. It is ok for grandsons first tool chest and for the money.
