    Inexpensive and flexible installation June 09, 2009

    Receiver separate from mechanical opener allowed me to place it right above the garage door and stringing the control wire to the opener was easy. That extended the range by 10 feet, to the start of our driveway. It is our primary door opener, been used daily for year and a half, with no problems ever.

    Only works with "315" systems April 07, 2009

    Be careful purchasing this particular remote. The black button ones only work with the "315" system, which ours turned out not to be. This is not clearly labeled on the information on the website, so don't make the mistake I did! According to the information on the package, your garage door opener should have a purple "smart button" in order for these remotes to work with it. We had previously purchased the blue button remotes, which worked fine with our apartment's garage door opener, but after a few months in my husband's pocket, they start getting touchy and have to be squeezed hard for the button to trigger the door, which is why we were replacing them.

    Perfect right out of package,No programming necessary

    I purchased this replacement garage door remote after the previous homeowners did not leave any garage door openers when they left. I have to tell you I was seriously thinking I would have to replace the whole garage door opener to be able to get a remote that worked. Sears saved me alot of money when they had this remote available in stock at my local Sears. As with most replacement purchases I thought I would have a terrible time making this replacement garage door remote control work with the 'old' garage door opener. I was pleasently surprised to find out that this remote worked correctly the first time right out of the package! I did not have to reset anything or program the remote to the old garage door. Thank you Sears for maintaining these remotes and keeping these in stock in my local Sears store!

    Great investment to update old units June 23, 2009

    I am a huge sceptic when it comes to add-on's of any kind, but this is a must for anyone looking to replace an old, worn out remote, or wanting to program your Home Link system in your vehicle but were unable to due to the old dip switch technology in older garage openers. I have a Craftsmen, 1/2 HP opener from the mid 90's. I bought the Universal receiver for two reasons. First, I needed a new, key fob size remote for my motorcycle to avoid having to carry the old, larger remote so I also purchased the Craftsman, 3 function compact remote (Item# 00953752000 Model# 53752 ). This is the "Black" button remote which must be used with the universal receiver. Secondly, the Home link system in our 2007 Chevy Tahoe was unable to connect to the old unit due to the dip switch technology used in the opener from the mid 1990's. This Craftsman Universal receiver has the "rolling code" technology and once I connected the receiver to the motor head, (very, very easy by the way)and reconnected power to both units, it was a simple, fast process to get the Home link system in the Tahoe to connect to the universal receiver. The same was true with connecting the 3 function compact remote. It nearly took me longer run the bell wire along the truss and down the wall to the 110V outlet. Another issue I feared was that the older remotes as well as the home link system in our Audi All-Road would be adversely affected by the connection of the newer universal remote. This was NOT the case at all. Both Home Link systems in the different vehicles, the two original older remotes, the wall mounted hard-wired button and the new compact remote all work perfectly. I honestly think my 13 month old son could have installed this product. Thank you to the gentleman working the tool department at the Ridgedale mall Sears store for your helpful tips.
