drill out power extractor
I was sceptical when I got this item for Christmas but recently I was able to use it on a very difficult screw holding a battery in place for a riding lawnmower and it worked exactly the way it was supposed to. Needless to say I was very impressed. I will definitely use it in the future and have already recommended it to several of my friends.

one time use
Well, it worked, but while using the #4 bit, it broke. No problem I thought, Craftsman can be returned when broke. Uhhhh, no, not quite. Only some tools have this warranty and this ain't one of them!!!! $30.00 down the tubes for one time use. I might as well buy some cheap pos at **************, at least they take their broken tools back!!

Don't buy!

Bought this to remove a broken hex key bolt on my bike frame. Didn't work tried over and over to get a grip started and it didn't seem powerful enough to get one started. I read on another review that it doesn't work well on soft metals, maybe that's the problem.

Great tool

From the packaging i didn't think it was going to work well. But i was shocked at how well theses worked on the most rusted bolts and screws i tried them on. Very easy to use and always handy when working on anything with screws or bolts that weathered.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A must have

I don't use these much, but when you need them they are a must. The extractors in this kit are a nice range of sizes for most tasks and they come in a nice case that will help prevent loosing them.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
I used. the extractor and it broke, needs to be stronger.

I have many craftsmen tools and i love them. I just recently bought an extractor kit and tried to use it for taking out a head bolt on my brothers car. I was unable to extract the bolt from the head and it took a long time just to drill down far enough to flip the extractor over and use it. When we finally got it drilled out and used the extractor I slowly turned it in and it grabbed. I continued to slowly turn the bolt and it would not give. Eventually I broke the extractor in the head. I love my Craftsmen and I hate to give a bad review but we need to figure out a tool that can withstand the abuse of hardened steel. I will continue to buy from Sears and Craftsmen thank you gor all your hard work. Jason R. Lunsford

Worked perfectly!

One of the bolts holding the alternator in my car sheared off.  Rather than pay a mechanic $300, I bought the extractor set for about $40 and a new bolt for $3.  I had to re-read the instructions several time as the first part of step 2 didn't make any sense -- until I opened the package and looked at the bits.  I was a still little apprehensive because the last thing I wanted to do was make the broken bolt worse and have an even more expensive repair.  I also read a couple of the reviews on this site.

Following a tip from another reviewer, I pre-drilled a smaller hole with a conventional bit.  Then I used the power extractor as instructed.  The bolt came out quickly and easily.

This is a great set of tools to have on hand!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
It broke in half and made the whole precess more difficult.

I bought this extractor to remove two screws that had the heads rusted off. It was difficult to get the hole in the screw drilled and then when I finally got it in the extractor broke in half. The shaft that was lodged in there was strong enough to dull every additional bit I used on it. If you have an especially difficult bolt make sure you buy a stronger extractor.
