    moving snow September 15, 2007

the snow blower does its job..living in nothern michigan, you need to remove the snow from the area or you end up with huge pile of snow in the way for the rest of the winter. the blower will throw snow 30ft. the only problem i have with it is i put the blower on a Lt 1000 lawn tractor with a twin cylinder 22hp bs engine. the motor would bog down on a heavy load of snow and i would get stuck have to back up and take a smaller bites, i would also like to see an electic lift on the blower. other then my tractor being a little light, the snow blower moves snow.

Belts that cost tooooo much!!!!! September 11, 2007

I too purchased the snow blower attachment and found out that keeping belts on the piece is impossible. The blower was put together by Sears and I attached it to my riding mower at home. At first, everything worked as it should, but after a few snows the belt began to break. I replaced it, at a $51.00 price tag.(ouch) Installed it, it broke a short while later in the season. Checked things over again, like the pulleys , alignment, proper tension ect., nothing wrong!!!!! Put another belt on, it also broke. The belt size replacement is correct and the tension is correct. It is getting costly! My next option is to replace all the belts(motion-clutch-blower) and hope this solves the problem. A chain gear drive and a cluth system on the auger would have been a better system for such a costly piece of equipment to begin with. A quality product this is not, so think twice before buying!

The 42" Snowthrower Attachment is flawed...it breaks belts December 27, 2010

I have the Craftsman 42" Snowthrower attachment, and like many others, I constantly have to replace belts. This is very costly, and I can pay someone to clear my driveway much cheaper than keeping this blower in belts. Do not buy this attachment...it is flawed.

    Belt Eater (1/4 star*) July 22, 2007

From the time I bought my tractor and this snow-blower attachment and Sears assembled and installed it on the tractor, it has eaten an average of three or more belts a season. It constantly throws the belts whenever it is in the lowered position. The front blower pulleys are lower and do not lignup properly with the rear drive pulleys on the tractor when the blower is lowered. It was under warranty when I told them of this and they wouldn't fix it, take it back and/or replace it. Sears said it was assembled and installed correctly and there is nothing wrong with it. Now that the warranty ran out, I am stuck with a heap of scrap metal or pay to have them fix what they should of fixed or replaced when it was under warranty like they should of !!!!!!! You take it from there
