The Craftsman adjustable work stand exceeded my expectations. Ready to go right out of the box. No assembly required! Very well built. Attached a 12" miter saw to the stand in about 5 min with no problem aligning holes with the adjustable work table brackets. Sturdy and safe. A real keeper!

Craftsman Work Stand - What I have been looking for! August 29, 2010

I have been researching a new WorkMate style bench. Mine is 20+ yrs old and too short for me (my back) anymore, I am 6'-1" tall and I needed something over the typical 30" tall.

This is not exactly what I had hoped for (a 36" tall workmate style bench) but I am going to install a plywood top to the adjustable rails with carriage bolts and it will work well as orginally desired and great, as designed, as a stand for my mitre saw, table saw etc. And I am even going to make a router jig. The contruction and set up is great. It came out of the box fully assembled, unlike other stands I have researched, and in one case bought and returned because of very cheap design.

I highly recommend this for the purpose I needed, though with a little bit of additions I plan to make. Maybe Craftsman can design a table for it in the future?

I just bougt it today, but because of weeks of research I had to comment after setting it up. Maybe I will post more later after I have used it.

      Almost perfect April 22, 2009

Having recently purchased a miter saw, I also found myself needing a stand to bolt it to that would survive being hauled around my property. (Think hills, lawn, gravel, etc..) Ideally, I wanted something that I could leave the saw bolted to. Well, this adjustable work stand might just be as good as it gets. Pros: - Fully assembled and ready to go right out of the box. - Easy to raise and collapse, even with a saw bolted to the top of it. - Short enough to fit in tight spaces when your storing or transporting it, even with a saw attached. - Can be collapsed and tossed right in a truck with a saw attached, and it will not fall over or slide around. Cons: - Honestly, the wheels could be larger. Rolling over gravel driveways, or up steps would be a lot easier with larger wheels. - When raising and collapsing, care must be taken not to let the wheel bases scrape on the floor. They could damage some flooring, so be careful, and use floor protection in your work area. (You should be protecting the floor anyway!) - The locking wheels are a little less precise feeling than I would like right out of the box, but somehow seem to have improved in operation simply from using them a few times. What I'd like to see: - Some sort of hard plastic glide strips or roller track/belt similar to what appliance dollies have would allow for dragging the collapsed stand over the edge of stairs, truck beds, etc., without damaging finishes or the stand would be a welcomed feature. Maybe even an add-on accessory? - Another accessory idea would be a rotation top assembly that would allow me to rotate an attached tool 90 degrees and lock it in place, such as a miter saw, so that fitting the assembly through doorways would be easier. Some sliding miter saws, like mine, combine with the table to make a width that would be impossible to fit through many doorways, and being able to swivel the entire base of the saw would be awesome! (Sears, By all means feel free to compensate me for the idea if you use it by giving me a free one. Ha!) Overall, this thing is close to perfect, and it's been a long time since I felt that I could say that about any Craftsman product. I'm seriously considering buying a second one for my table saw. As for fellow miter saw users, adding a couple of adjustable height roller stands to your shopping cart for those projects that require working with longer stock still won't push your total cost as high as some of the dedicated portable miter saw stands available on the market, and you'll have a lot more flexibility and portability using this stand.
