Great starter box, low security January 19, 2009

This is an excellent starter box; as a starting-out backyard mechanic now working in a shop pursuing my ASEs, this is a great box: it's light, sturdy, functional, and its color is more unique than most I've seen in my field. The risers which make the cubby space make for a useful horizantal surface for putting parts, hardware, or tools on for future easy reach, though I recommend putting something thin and/or absorbent on top of it to protect the finish. The drawers are well-sized and they open and close easily, assembly is a snap (though having a helper makes it easier), it's easy to dismantle if you have to change shops or go mobile with it and in that state it will fit inside most cars (I had mine in my wagon and had room to spare!), and it's easy to lock and unlock. On that note, however, I must recommend most strongly that if a person keeps their box where prying persons might try to break into it, get a more resilient locking mechanism or put (weld) something on the bars to keep them in place when it's meant to be secured: the locks are easily forced open with lock-picking tools, much to my disappointment, but as a starter in my field there's little of value within, so no loss other than cosmetic damage to the locks themselves and distrust of my service manager. The only other negative thing I can find with it are that two of the wheels (on the right-hand side) don't swivel, which is good for side-to-side movement and keeping the box from moving forwards or backwards, but makes it slightly awkward to "steer" around a shop. Also, the brakes don't work perfectly but once it's in place, it stays there just fine. This is a great deal when it's on sale: I got mine for less than $100 in-store, and feel I've definitely got my money's worth.

You get what you pay for July 28, 2009

This toolbox is a great starter toolbox. However you do get what you pay for. The toolbox is very flimsey. My advice would be to put a little extra money away for a little bit better of a toolbox.

Great for Normal Home Owner June 21, 2009
    via bazaarvoice
    By averagehomeowner of East Coast

I have had this tool center for a few months now and it is great for the average home owner. LOTS of room and plenty strong enough for anything I have. Of course it isn't the higher grade ball bearing version, but for less than 100 bucks, you can't go wrong. Took about 15-20 minutes to put together and I didn't have any help to hold things in place either. Of course if you are a mechanic, you will already have something a little higher grade and more expensive. But for 99% of the Average Joe's, this is perfect. This extra space where the riser is, is great for bulky tools, as is the large space on the bottom. All in all, this is a great investment that will last for years.

We got this for my husband for Christmas and so far he seems to love it. Now all of his tools have their own "home".
