    Fantastic January 24, 2009

Like some others have mentioned, I am kicking myself for not buying one of these years ago. I have a 1/3 acre lot, the back half of which is totally wooded and fenced. I have tried every method from the ol' rake and bag, the tarp and cart to the woods and the hand held blower/vac. I have dreaded every Autumn since I've lived here...until now! I thought it might be tough this first time since it's already mid-winter and the leaves have all been long down. Back in Autumn, I used the blower/vac about four times to get rid of some of them and then one windy day probably 80% (the remaining leaves) fell in about two hours totally covering my property. So I gave up in annual disgust and just blew them in rather large piles next to the fence, so my dogs could still enjoy the center portion of the yard. Got this thing home this week (late January) and I am frankly amazed how good it is. It sucked up all the piles (the bottom of which were wet) with ease. It shreds the leaves very fine, interestingly the wet leaves were shredded perhaps smaller than the the dry ones. I am also quite impressed with how much the bag holds and I like the design of the bag. Easy to open with no zippers and fairly easy to empty. (Tip: Empty before it is jam packed with leaves, much easier that way.) I'm sure the better method is to use this machine as the leaves fall rather than wait until they are all down, but even though I didn't have that option (being late in the season) it worked perfectly. Considering the work it saves me, it's almost fun. I really have no complaints. The engine starts with one pull, every time (only need choke when cold) and the chipper works well and is surprisingly useful. Get some ear protection because it is very loud, which I suppose is the nature of things when you are grinding objects into small pieces. My only regret is not buying one sooner!

You will not be happy! November 29, 2008

This is a yard cleanup vacuum for light duty only. The bag fills up very fast if you even a few inches of leaves so fast that you may only go 20-30 ft on a line and then have to empty the bag. my 1/2 acre lot has 3 trees on it and after 20 bags decided to start raking and piling on the tarp again. It clogs very easy and has to be shut down every time you empty the bag or unclog it. That means adusting the choke and run controls on the machine then pulling the handle which in itself is a little harder than a mower starter (my wife couldnt do it). We had two bolts with plastic wing nuts rattle off and get lost the first day we used it (used to keep the push bar tight) It is anightmare if you plan to use it to clean up any amount of leaves, period. However, if you feel the need to spend 400 bucks on a machine that will tidy up loose leaves and things here and there after your landscaper has cleaned your yard, its your man! Sorry, I could not ever recommend this anyone, ever

Starting: I am a petite female and have no problem starting this machine on the first try weather it is hot or cold. Performance: The product works better for those of you who have an abundance amount of leaves. If you do not have a lot of leaves, I would not recommend this for you. I will say that the bag does fill up fast. You will have to go over the area at least twice. It does not pick up every leaf but it does pick up the majority of them. It also does not pick up acorns. Bag: The bag is somewhat difficult to empty by yourself. I have found that if you empty it into a large trashcan and bag the leaves from the trashcan you can pretty much do it yourself. The bag is not hard to take off and place back on. One downfall I do have about this is my bag has started to break by the handle. I do not know if this is a defect in just my bag or if this is a common thing. Sears said that the bag is not covered by the warranty or the extended warranty. The cost of a new bag is $ 190.00. Sear is replacing my since it is only a month old. Additional comments: I have read other reviews saying the machine is very loud. It is no louder than a lawn mover. The machine can be difficult to push especially if it is on the level lower to the ground, but then again it is not self-propelled. It does reduce the amount of bags that you have I just do not think that it is 8 to 1. It can get dusty if you are in an area that has more dirt that grass. The grinder works well until you get to the end of the stick and it just sits in the grinder. It will definitely reduce the amount of time that you spend in the yard. What used to take me a couple of days to complete I can do it in a few hours. Overall, I have used this product three times now and feel that I can give a fair review on it. In my opinion, I do feel that this product is great compared to raking. Nothing is 100% perfect so if that is what you are looking for you will not find it. I do feel that it is worth the money (except for the bag problem), and I do not regret buying this. I regret not getting it sooner. I would recommend it to anyone that spends hours raking.

    Yard Vacuum February 12, 2009

Due to the time of year (December) I have only used it once. It has great suction, picks up everything. I own a 1989 version that works well but nothing like this one. Only drawback is the bag is a little difficult to empty with out spilling part of the contents. Other than that a great machine!

    I am disappointed February 08, 2009

Overall, I am disappointed with this unit. I needed the help it proclaims to provide but I will go back to yard raking. The unit is heavy, vacuum function is almost poor(the most disappointing feature) and it is hard to start(one must pull the rope HARD to turn the engine over. Very dusty to work with when emptying the bag....a real health hazard. Sears, this unit is almost junk. I will stick with my hand rake. The most disappointing machine I have ever purchased. I was a sucker for this purchase. Win some, lose some....I lost on this deal big time.
