    Great for small jobs September 08, 2011

    I purchased the line trimmer this summer (July 2011) with the hope that I would no longer need an extension cord.  To my surprise this line trimmer worked very well.  Yes, it?s not as strong as a gas powered line trimmer but for small jobs it works good.  Now keep in mind it?s battery powered and with constant use it will only last about 20 to 30 mins before the battery goes dead but if you have other 19.2v batteries from other Craftsman tools then all you have to do is replace the battery.

    19.2 Trimmer - would like to give it better review, but can't September 02, 2011

    I needed a new string trimmer and decided against another gas trimmer.  I chose this rechargable model because I have a Craftsman 19.2 volt rechargeable drill/driver and the batteries are the same.  I got this in the mail and charged the battery.  Right out of the box this thing is awesome!  It edges like a dream.  Seems to have good power with a fresh battery.  After about 10 minutes of use it started to lose power and it lost power fast.  I edged around my driveway and then around three trees.  By the third tree the battery was so low that it couldn't finish the job.  Went and got my battery from my drill and was able to finish the job, but that battery was done by the time I was finished. 

    The good thing about this trimmer is the edging it does.  The head flips around and then you extend the guard.  It gives you a great edge.  The other positive is the bumpless string.  It feeds out enough string to keep you going witout stopping.

    The negative is the battery life.  That is why I give it two stars.  I would give it four stars if it weren't for the battery life.  The battery does not last long enough to finish my yard with one battery.  I have 12 trees on my lot and a edging to be done.  I think it should be able to handle trees with no problem, but that isn't the case.

    For someone with a small yard and a couple trees I would recommend this to them.

    I am going to see if Sears has the same trimmer in a corded model.

    Please do not waste your money this trimmer has less than 1 hour battery power say 20 minutes at the most.The replacement spool with line for this product is not stocked in the store and  when I contacted customer service to purchase the product they told me it will take 2 months before I received it.

    I have a small lawn and thought this would work great for light weed wacking and edging but was very wrong. Battery life is very short and has trouble cutting through mildly thick grass. This trimmer bogs down easily and wll not power through anything remotely tough. Battery charger indicates that the battery is fully charged when the battery only has enough power to operate trimmer at half speed. Edging assist tool is too long for the trim line length, line is barely longer than edging assist tool. I would suggest spending money on another trimmer.
