    Cons:
    Multiple defective wrenches

    I have had three different torque wrenches. All this type. I have never been so upset with a Craftsman product. I ended up returning it again and just bought the standard style. When I used the torque wrench, it was like using a breaker bar. Even on just 25 FT LB. And what is even worse, I called my local Sears and there is no way for them to calibrate it or to even check.

    Repeated openings and closings are sure to fatigue the hinge quickly towards failure because it's one of those single pieces of plastic. I guess I'd describe it as a "membrane hinge." Like flipping a drink can tab back and forth until it breaks, so shall surely be the fate of this hinge. If only it had a pin-type pivoting mechanical hinge this would be a perfect torque wrench case. Using plastic is okay. Lots of durable tool boxes have plastic pin pivoting hinges and they are fine. These "membrane" hinges just break too soon. You've seen them on numerous plastic pencil boxes for the kids. Those don't even last through the first month of school. I must guess that if I used this torque wrench case several times a day, it wouldn't last a year and the hinge would break. However, for a total of about $15 with shipping and tax, I'll have to keep it. Shipping it back will cost another $5 to $7. Luckily, I won't be using this case much. I got the case for the inch pound torque wrench. That wrench is absolutely vital to some tasks I perform but I will seldom use it. So, considering that I won't use this case more than a few times every couple of years, I expect this case will last throughout my lifetime. Besides the hinge, however, the case is durable. I guess you'd describe it as "blow-molded." It certainly seems strong enough to protect the wrench while the wrench is stored in a tool box with other wrenches. I weigh 265 pounds and when I stand on the case, it doesn't compress much while the wrench inside is well protected. If you could buy it in the store for $8, I'd say it is well worth it. Considering that it's actually about $15, I'm going to complain about the hinge. Considering that there's no other way to find a compact molded case for your torque wrench I'm going to say it's worth it if you want a case because there's no other place on this planet to get one.
