Gas weed trimmer May 17, 2007

Excellent value, excellent warranty coverage. I would not recommend putting the additional attachments on this unit. The unit itself is not engineered strong enough to take the abuse of these attachments especially the blade attachment for small wooded debris. I have had this unit back to Sear's repair 3 times with either broken or worn drive parts. Sears repairs these problems without question; the unit is just too light for those attachments.

    89000 Review April 19, 2008

Purchased this unit because of the great luck I had with my other trimmer from sears. Sorry I sold it. This trimer seems to have the power needed to do the job, however there is a strong vibration from the head. After an hour or so I can feel it in my hands. This unit is fairly heavy, I'd advise getting a harness. Make it much easier. It does start on the 3rd or 4th pull cold or hot. Seems to go through fuel much faster than my older 25cc. There is at times a sluggish delay when pressing the throttle. Almost like it's trying to flood out, but never has. Does it more when cold. Overall it's doing what I needed it to do. Next time I will go with a lighter trimmer. Im a big guy 6' 250lbs. I can manage but does tire me out after a couple hours. I wouldn't recommend this product because of the weight, vibration, throttle response. If you do get this trimmer, make sure you get the warranty with it. The throttle response concerns me a bit.

So at first it was great. Then after a year and a half of regular weekend use, the engine would rev like crazy, overheat and you couldn't use it. I would have to run like crazy around the yard to get everthing done knowing it would quit. Then right before it would quit it would surge- fast and slow. Sears wanted more than $90 just to look at it. And many lawn mower repair places won't work on 2 cycle lawn tools except for one brand that isn't Craftsman. The Sears guy wouldn't even speculate about what it was saying he'd never heard of anyone having that problem before. the opposite is true. After doing some internet research, it seems that these things are well known for having the fuel lines developing dry rot. You have to take the carburetor off and clean out a small filter. I am about to do this after having five shops refuse to work on it. This wasn't cheap and I bought the blower, edger, trimmer and hedge trimmer attachments. Never again a Craftsman.

If you have the same problem I did, here's a link to where I found the answer.

    Good deal June 08, 2009

I just bought this one after buying and immediately returning a Bolens 150 piece of junk of comparable price. This sears model is very powerful. I don't have a lawn, I have big thick brush and weeds and this thing went through it with ease. It's a little heavy, especially when carrying it up and down steep slopes. Sometimes it doesn't start right back up unless you pull the rope several times. But mostly it starts up on the 1st or second pull. I am very happy with it so far. Spent about 8 full hours on a tough job and it held up just fine.

    Unreliable October 23, 2007

"Ran great for one season, maybe 6 hours total use. Second season, second use, started fine quit after 1/2 hour. wouldn't start again. took back to sears told to send in for repair. after 6 weeks sent back unrepairable. "Not worth the cost to repair/Parts unavailable on backorder delivery date not known". Took back to the store exchanged it for 07179617000 4cycle straight shaft. hopefully if there is a problem parts will be available. Ran great when it ran but no good without available parts. I will review the 4cyc after I run it a while."
