The wheel arm is too short and tips under sweeper during short turns. You will have to take wide turns or modify the wheel arm by lengthening the arm. I used a piece of angle arm to lenghen the wheel arm to prevent tipping under sweeper, otherwise this dethatcher is a good product for the money. After I modified the wheel arm it never tipped under the sweeper again.

On even ground April 21, 2008

I first bought the excellent Sears High Speed Sweeper which works great!!and then decided to pair it up with this dethacher. Everything works great as long as you are on fairly level ground but as soon as you hit a small mound or uneven spot on the lawn, the guide wheel folds under, along with the tines and whole unit tips up on its side. If the arm that holds the guide wheel was longer this unit would work much better!!

    Dethatches well... April 19, 2009
    via bazaarvoice
    By FrustratedWithSears of Southeast Michigan

Once the ground to be dry enough in SE Michigan, I assembled the unit, not too hard to do, and used it successfully on my front yard. I never had a problem with the unit tipping or anything. I just ran it over and over the yard until it looked what I wanted. Unfortunately, the sweeper brushes would only go down so far due to the guide wheel resting on the adjustment lever. I will be mounting the wheel farther left with a longer bolt when I get a chance. To get around this, I put my bagger back on and mowed the lawn short. My lawn is very clean, with very little thatch left. It was most certainly easier that hand raking, and cheaper than renting a dethatcher or hiring it done. Overall, this is a very good product. By the way, some u-bolts and brackets are now included with the product that keep the unit in alignment with the sweeper!

dethatcher for 42" lawn sweeper June 09, 2008
    via bazaarvoice
By pownalite of north pownal, vermont

the dethatcher attaches to a bar on front of the sweeper, but the clamps used to mount it tend to slip from side to side while in use...so i improvised by putting a hose clamp on the mounting bar at the "outside" of each attach point to keep the unit from shifting. it basically does what it is supposed to, but when used while sweeping, the unit digs into the ground and gets flipped under the sweeper. it works best when used unto itself with the sweeper brush raised.
