    Craftsman Edger Attachment August 11, 2010

    I bought this edger attachment a couple of weeks after I bought my Craftsman 4-cycle string trimmer. The edger does a super job!  Depending on previous edging done, and the cutting depth adjustment, this edger sometimes wants to pull forward requiring some strength to hold it back.  This can be reduced or eliminated by not setting the cutting depth so deep. When edging street curbs with you standing in the street below curb level, the total length of the tool is perfect for me and allows me to grip the lower handle and stand upright comfortably.  However, when edging sidewalks and/or driveways, to use the handle requires one to bend over slightly which creates lower back fatigue, unless, you have sufficient strength in your arm and hand that uses the gas 'trigger'.  As the blade contacts the ground there is a tendency to 'wobble' and/or veer off from a straight line.  Using the handle controls this action, and, a one-handed operation is possible (as I can attest to) with a sufficient strong arm. BTW, I'm a 69 year old 5'8" male.

    What were they thinking.... April 25, 2011

    First of all, the blade spins the wrong way. If its grabs something will at full throttle, it tends to take off on you. If it spun the other way, then it would just push back on you much like any circular saw. Plus the chippings should shoot out in front of you, not back towards you. Secondly, they left the guide bar off. Every edger I've ever used had a guide bar that would prevent the blade from hitting the sidewalk/driveway - this one doesn't. Lastly, its not long enough. I'm only 6ft tall and I found myself stooping down constantly to get the correct depth. It was on sale so I'm only out about $70 so I might look around for a real edger. It's a shame because the power head seems so verstile.

    YOU DID NOT TAKE IN CONSIDERATION LAWNS THAT ARE CUT 3.00 IN HIGH, THE RECOMMENDED HEIGHT, AND LOW RETAINING WALLS BECAUSE OF THE CURVE. YOU CANT DO IT. THERE GOES 70.00 BUCKS. THE RUBBER RETAINER IN BACK STOPS FORWARD MOVEMENT AND YOU CAN'T USE THE WHEEL. SO I HAVE TO USE THE WHOLE UNIT BACKWARDS, BLADE AGAINST BRICK NOT GRASS? GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD... VERY DISSAPOINTING LET ALONE THE MONEY...I KNOW I CAN'T SPELL

    We broke our old Craftsman Edger Attachment so went to Sears to purchase a new one. The new one is made much cheaper (out of plastic) and the blade seems to wobble. I don't like the new one, but need an edger to make the yard look pretty!!

    After purchasing this attachemnt at a low price from Sears I found it to be a great help in quick edging. This product was easy to attach. Just push it in and tighten the knob. The edger attachment is a lower price than purchasing an entire edger machine and works just as good.
