1/2 inch torque wrench - craftsman not what it used to be
After 4 uses over the course of 6 months, the cheap plastic "lock" broke. I returned to the store, tool in hand only to find out that the "lifetime" warranty on hand tools does not apply to torque wrenches. (while I understand calibration would not be warrantied, breakage should be). Of course I didn't have my receipt (I've never needed one in the past for craftsman lifetime warranty). Sears isn't helping itself stay in business with these types of policies and cheap Chinese made tools.

Works fine - don't panic

Needed this for some assembly on my motorcycle. bought it. read the instructions, it worked. Didn't use it to loosen anything (as if I recall correctly, you're not supposed to use a torque wrench for) adjusted it, locked it down, tightened, click, done. my axle hasn't come out of my bike and my tire hasn't fallen off. Ill edit this if I use it more down the road, but for the money, its fine.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Didn't make it through it's first task :-(

I bought this 1/2" Drive Torque Wrench at Sears for 2 reasons. 1) I have a Craftsman 3/8" drive torque wrench among many other Craftsman tools that have worked flawlessly for over 20 years. 2) This $80, 1/2" drive torque wrench was on sale for $40. I must say that I am Highly Disappointed with this tool. I purchased it for the initial task of doing some front suspension/brake work on a 07 Monte Carlo. The task required torqueing 26 bolts ranging from 96-133lbs. After torqueing only the second bolt in the process, the gears at the head of the torque wrench started to spin instead of locking in place. I had to lock/unlock the switch several times in order for it to engage. This continued to happen for each and every bolt, getting progressively worse until the wrench would actually "break loose" each time I applied torque, snapping the gears out of place at the head. Once the gears decided to engage every 3rd try or so, the wrench would click at the appropriate torque. The other initial issue with this torque wrench is that the adjustment dial does not line up with the torque numbers, leaving you to guess if you are at 100lbs or 110lbs as an example...Also, the numbers are so small, they make it very difficult to see at a quick glance. This is a poorly designed and poorly built (Chinese?) tool from a company that I used to trust for all of my hand tool needs...Not anymore.

Great Buy

With rewards buying this was nothing short of a bargain. This tool is easy to use and built to last. The long handle makes getting things tight a breeze. It is great peace of mind knowing my lug nuts are torqued to spec and equally tight.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good Torque Wrench For The Price

I recently purchased this torque wrench at "1/2 price" to replace a Craftsman all-metal model that finally wore out after 30+ years. I can only hope the new one lasts as long.Three things I like about the new wrench over the old one are: A longer length allowing for more power with less exertion. When dialing in a specific torque. there's a distinct click for every graduation on the dial. Instead of having to hold down a locking collar like on the old wrench, this wrench has a simple collar with a lock/unlock positions.

Accurate and sturdy.

Bought this because needed a torque wrench that was more precise than the standard "beam" style. Matched it against another torque wrench, they agreed. Seems robust in construction.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good Torque Wrench

Works well and easy to use. Small enough that its not too cumbersome, and large enough that you get plenty of leverage. I'm happy with this torque wrench.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 1/2 drive review

I bought this on 4/4/15, used it once to torque my valve cover. It worked fine. I used it again on 5/3/15 to torque my lug nuts at 75 ft/lb and it broke. The wrench would no longer tighten the lug nuts but the loosening it is fine. I took it back and get a refund. I'll never buy this again as I had a Craftsman torque wrench and it broke on me too but they wouldn't cover it because it is considered a "precision tool"

Do it at home and save money.

I have two sets of tires for my truck. I need the exercise so I like to save money by changing the tires myself. Its nice to have the proper tool so you DON'T OVER TORQUE your lug nuts. Great product and at the right price.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Big, 1/2 inch Torque wrench with red dial setting lock. Homeowner quality.

If you need a replacement for a basic torque wrench, this is a good choice. Nice weight and handle length for wheel lug nuts and more. Why bother with getting an old torque wrench recalibrated?

I would recommend this product to a friend.
