Easy to start, move, turn and adjust height. July 08, 2010

This is the first time I have purchased the lawn mower. Since this is the only lawn mower I have used, I can't compare with any other.

I didn't have any experience in lawn mowing, but I am comfortable doing these types of tasks. The lawn mower is appealing. It is easy to start. The high rear wheel as well as rear propelled feature keeps it balanced even when the bag is full, and effortless to move. The easy clean feature makes it convenient to clean it. The height can be adjusted with a single lever. The fuel consumption also seems to be low. I have used it for more than a month.

Rear drive slipping November 16, 2010

This is a nice mower that I have used once., but I am having problems with the rear drive. It locks up when backing up. When I mow up to a tree or wall, and I attempt to back it up, I have to drag it because the wheels are locked up. The manual says to puch it forward an inch to unlock the wheels, but that it frequently not possible if I am already up against an obstacle. The drive also slips badly when it doesn't like the grass resistance. The engine runs normally but the rear wheels stop driving and I have to push the mower. If I pick the rear wheels up, or drive the unit on the pavement, the wheels drive normally. I do not know if this is a repairable adjustment, or the lockup is repairable. Sometimes these problems are design flaws. The problem with Sears is that they do not provide direct technical assistance for problems. They shield their repair facility from all calls and emails - they only allow shipment to the repair facility. It will cost me 2 - 3 weeks to get the mower returned, and I won't know if is repairable until then. This policy seems very customer unfriendly.

Good mower for the price gets the job done quickly September 22, 2011
    via sears_dot_com
    By jackscool2006 of Sagle, ID
    Pros:
Big rear wheel drive, quick height adjust

I have this exact mower and i have literally put it through a lot and it has never once had a problem. I have ran this mower more then any other mower out there and i have had lawn boy's, toro's, husquvarna's and i like this one out of all of them. The rear big wheel drive i like better then the small wheel rear wheel drive for bumpy terrain and the drive system is a breeze. the only thing i dont like is the way the self propelled handle is on the right hand side only if it was a dual it would not cause as much stress on just your right hand.

Overall this mower is a 5/5 in my book it cuts clean with a sharp blade and makes my lawn look superb! I recommend this mower for anyone.

Big rear wheel drive, easy starter,Easy Clean up,lots of power.,quick height adjust
    Cons:
    bag can fill fast

i had a OLD murray mower that has most of the features this one does but WOW what a difference 20 years makes in a mower. i mostly mow thick weeds and there is no problem with it (plenty of power) sometimes the bag can seem to fill up really fast but thats no big deal. i like the deck wash and LOVE the 1 Lever highth adjust makes changeing the deck heigth a snap. starts eveytime no problem. love the variable speed self propelled. its a PERFECT mower.

Piece of Garbage - Spend $50 More and buy another brand June 03, 2011
    via sears_dot_com
    By JeepGuy41 of Westerville, OH
    Cons:
Can't deal directly with service center,Rear wheel lockup,Slipping rear drive,Waste of money

Just as some other customers have commented, the rear wheels lockup and tear your grass. This happened after 2 uses. It quickly gets worse. The belt loosens in a few uses because of friction caused by the wheels locking. After two months of use the belt was so damaged that it won't stay on the pully. Worse yet is that the handle to engage the drive unit broke in half. After removing the housing, you can easily see how cheaply this part is made. Sorry Sears this is the second expensive mower I have purchased in 3 years that has major problems. My first mower stopped running after only 1 and 1/2 seasons. After paying over $100 to get it "tuned up"at Sears, it ran for another month and would not start. I was told by two different local equipment repair shops that the motor had a bent crank shaft. They could make adjustments to get it to run, but told me it would stop running again after a few months of use. Both mechanics said the unit was defective. The local Sears store would not make good on their quality promise and I was foolish enough to buy another Craftsman mower.

    Great Mower May 31, 2011
    via sears_dot_com
    By lesgrt of Tyler, TX
    Pros:
    Big rear wheel drive,easy starter

Great mower, easy to start, and has awesome power. Cranked first time right out of the box, and has ever since. I love the walk assist. It will mow as fast as you want or as slow as you want. (Believe me, it is fast) Tall grass, no problem, does slow down the self propelled a little in tall grass, but does not bog the motor down. Takes some getting used to, being that it will pull you along behind it. I walk fast naturally, so I had a tough time finding a mower that could keep up with me, or one that I didnt have to walk so slow behind. This one is the one. I also really like the easy height adjust. One single lever controls all four wheels. Very easy to adjust. The one drawback I see on this mower, is the back plate and safety flap under the back of the mower, it makes backing the mower up almost inpossible, if you are cutting on the lower cutting settings. But other than that, I have not found anything that I do not like about it. This is the third Sears mower I have owned, and so far it has the most beneficial features of any I have owned. I highly recomend it.
