    Good Solid Tractor November 05, 2008

    I've got about 7 hours on mine so far and it has been running and mowing good. The engine has plenty of power and is not very loud. I wish the deck had more up-down range. The range is about 2" to 5". I would prefer the "all up" position of the deck to be well above that. Sometimes when backing it off a trailer the deck will hit because it does not go up enough.

    Major Disappointment! October 08, 2008

    The turning radius on this tractor is impressive and much better than expected. Unfortunately, that is the only feature that has exceeded expectations. The tractor is not safe on slopes approaching 10%. Traction is limited going up the slope, braking especially poor going down and the wheel weights that Sears advised made it worse. The salesman even went so far as to tell me to let the air out of the tires so they're basically flat. . On my old Craftsman riding mower, I could shift my weight over a spinning wheel and get traction. On this mower, shifting your weight causes the safety mechanism in the seat to shut off the engine. I've had to manually push it back up the slope twice. Finally, the mower does not cut evenly when mowing as you turn corners even on flat terrain. This mower is a major disappointment but Sears' return policy (20% "restocking fee") pretty much forced me to keep it. I will say it does look nice sitting in my garage.

    This is the best Craftsman Professional 24 hp 42 in. Deck Deluxe Yard Tractor that I have ever own!! This tractor has lots of power and I never had to adjust anything before cutting. The deck cuts very level, even my neighbors have commented on the smooth and level cutting of the lawn. I owned a Craftsman 22hp 42" deck before but this tractor puts the old on to shame!! I am very satisfied with this tractor so far. I have not had any of the problems of the seat switch on cutting an un-level yard which mine is and it works great. I would strongly recommend this tractor!!!!! Oh, love the color too, set you apart. I say forget the John Deere save your money this does the same job or better and you get a lot more for the money. The pedal drive system and the electronic clutch makes it a great machine to operate, I will never go back to the manual system again!!!

    Recently purchased this tractor and hard bin catcher(double bin). This is a super combination. Going from an old 17 hp Murray 42" cut mower,I'm having a blast. I highly recommend this mower. No trouble mowing 2 acres anymore(only catch 1/2 acre). Thanks!
