    Very user friendly! June 17, 2007

    I tried an universal opener remote but couldn't get it programmed. So I ordered this opener remote from Sears.com, they shipped it to me within a few days. It took longer to open the package than it did to program the remote opener. What a breeze! It was programmed to work with my opener within 2 minutes. I would definitely recommend this product to my family and friends.

    This Remote Doesn't Last March 13, 2007

    I first purchased the 53859 in mid-2005. It lasted less than one year before it stopped functioning. It was replaced (free of charge, after MUCH badgering on my part) about March or April of 2006. Now, this one too has stopped functioning Replacing the battery does not fix it. While replacing the battery, I checked the simple innards and verified that the problem was not caused by dirt, poor contacts, etc. To the naked eye, everything was in factory-fresh condition. My remote control gets very, very gentle use. It has never been touched by anyone other than myself, and spends its life in its own separate compartment in my purse. I am a female senior citizen, and all my grandchildren are grown. In other words, grandchildren NEVER play with it. I just think that for $40, this unit should last MUCH longer than one year. Between 1991 and 2005, I had two remotes. Each one lasted approximately seven years. I think that's a reasonable expected lifetime for a $40 remote.

    I was soooo glad to read the earlier reviews and try this out!  It came quickly and was very very easy to setup.  It also gave instructions for erasing previous codes to the garage door opener which I really needed.  I definitely recommend this product!!

    this remote was so simple to program, and also at a very reasonable price, i looked att over the lewiston auburn area and sears was the only place who had what i needed
