      Batteries are Nickel Cadmium Treat Them Correctly April 03, 2011

      Check the web for "Care For NiCd battery"

      These batteries are NiCd Nickel Cadmium. You must use and charge them correctly. They have MEMORY. If you frequently use 10% of the charge then recharge the batteries will only give 10% and be discharged.

      Don't leave them in the charger as the charger doesn't complete shut off and continues to "trickel" charge which will significantly shorten their life.

      Use the batteries until the tool STARTS TO SLOW DOWN. Don't push it past that point. There are 15 -- 1.2 volt individual cells in the battery. If you try to get the last revolution out of your drill, the weakest cell will see a reverse polarity on it and that will weaken it.

      Sears makes a Lion battery for these tools. They cost more and do not have a memory and can be charged/ used without degrading the battery. They will accept a full discharge/charge cycle about 400 times. Lion batteries are used in cell phones and laptop computers.

      The DieHard C3 19.2 batteries are an expensive necessity May 06, 2011

      The power tools I own are good tools. 3/8 drill/driver I use has never let me down once in several years.

      But it is almost cheaper to by a whole new power tool set simply because the set would come with at least one battery and usually two.

      Bottom line...expensive necessity.

      THESE CAME WITH MY DRILL SET BUT WENT BAD IN JUST A FEW YEARS SO BOUGHT REPLACEMENTS ON SALE. THESE ARE NICAD AND I KNOW THE LITHIUM ARE MUCH BETTER AT HOLDING A CHARGE IN STORAGE BUT THEY ARE ABOUT TWICE THE PRICE SO I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE FOR LESS THAN ONE LITHIUM PACK.
