Tough and comfortable. Sears must NEVER discontinue this shoe!! I would have nothing to wear on the job.
Had a pair of the steel-toed version when I was in the Navy 20 years ago, working in steam propulsion plants. They were totally comfortable, although a little heavy. Fast forward to now, civilian life: After several pairs, I've gotten tired of how "casual office shoes" (e.g. clark's) wear out -- soles don't have good traction to start with and only get worse, and the uppers stretch and fit poorly in about a year, and they're not resolable -- sooo, I thought I'd try getting away with a pair of these in my office and lab environment. After six weeks, I've been totally happy with this shoe. Just as comfortable as I remember them (and, well, just as heavy, too.) In fact, I've worn them *every* day since I got them. My new balance "weekend shoes" have been collecting dust. They look like they'll wear as well as the ones I had back in shipboard life. Granted, I spend most of my time on a tile floor, but the tread is as good as new. At the sale price (at which they seem to be sold most of the time,) they're >40% less than the Clarks. The tread is not suited to mud. The shoe is well suited to shop/plant/warehouse work. I have NOT been impressed with the shoelaces. The shrink-wrapped tips have NOT held up well at all. I need to either fuse the tips with a match or replace them already. Somebody else in the thread mentioned Redwings. I've never had them, but their pricing starts at nearly FOUR times the price of these, so I think I never will have them. Anyone used to Redwings is slumming it, if they're looking at shoes under $200. Pros: durability, comfort, value Cons: weight, shoelaces Also, don't mail-order these if you haven't tried them on before. Their 9 1/2W is way too small for my 9 1/2 EEE feet. Their 10W is way too big; their 10M fits nicely. YMMV.

great in the kitchen does not slip the inside wears out before the outside its a heavy shoe so some people dont like it

I walk around all day long at the firehouse on concrete floors. These shoes hold up very well. They hold up well to constant on and off usage also. Padded low cut is nice, but I notice plastic shine on padding is not holding up, flakes off after several months. Overall though, I will continue to buy these as I have for several years. These are worth the money...catch on sale in 1st quarter of the year..at about $64

I have been buying these shoes for decades and I have noticed they don't last as long or feel as good as they used to.The material is cheaper an cracks. What a shame..go back to the old ways even if you have to charge a few dollars more.
I started useing this diehard shoes since they came out.as a tv service tech.I use to squat behind the TV to repair unit for long time.Ihad bought other brands But they wouid not last long.

This is a good shoe but needs to make them in 1/2 sizes like 11 1/2.

Granted I always wait for the sale and have never paid more than $41 for a pair..they are comfortable on concrete all day long whether standing under a lift or down crawling on the floor which is so hard on shoes. They last 3 years, that's about 15-20 dollars a year for work shoes, around the beginning of the third year I start searching for them on sale again. Before i found these shoes 10 years ago, I went through a lot of expensive name brand boots that lasted about six months and cost well over a 100 bucks a pair. They may be good for construction work but not for wrenching. If you are a wrench, these shoes will become one of your favorite tools. I just bought my 4th pair and they were comfortable right out of the box
Miami, FL
Larger shoe sizes don't come in half size. Shoe is either too short and narrow or too long.
Richfield, OH
One of the best work shoes out there. I work in a machine shop and walk and stand on metal chips all day and the soles of these shoes hold up well. Expect to get a year or two of hard use from these Diehard shoes.
