Garden Oasis  11.5 Ft. Steel Round Offset Umbrella w/ Sand Base

2 years later and I am now looking for a new umbrella. The first 3 months after purchasing it, the plastic string attachment on the side broke. Not even sure how it was to be used. The pole at the bottom split like a banana. The umbrella is so faded. This umbrella does not do well in weather.

So far working well. Base was a little aggravating to put together.

we've priced these out and would have paid a lot more anywhere else. Really glad I saw the ad.

I like the item, it works well and seems of good quality. The umbrella is large & provides the shade we were looking for.The only downside seems to be the construction of the base. The base is bottomless with two sandbags that cover the x shaped frame. We live in a windy area. The wind lifted the base & then the sandbags were exposed and the base would not go back down. We eliminated the problem by cutting triangular pieces of wood that cover the x shaped frame on the bottom. That seems to have solved our problem.

After reading the negative reviews I almost passed on this umbrella. Glad I didn't. I was having my car serviced at Sears Auto and had some time to kill so I wandered over to the patio department. This umbrella was on display. Looked very sturdy so I actually got on the base and tried to move it. It did very well, but how would it do outside ? Turns out even better. We live in South Florida about a half mile from the ocean so our winds are rather strong and sustained. Some reviews said that the unit spun around and broke. I can tell you that these reviewers didn't read the directions. It is supposed to turn 360 degrees and when you place it in position you must lock the lever down. Guess what, it works. Also, they said it blew over in heavy winds. Not mine. I put 200 lbs of construction sand and it's solid. It's best to have the base of the unit closest to the prevailing wind direction so that the umbrella is not fighting the wind. It's great quality and has a very classy appearance.

Was very excited when I purchased it. Loved it once we put it up. However, it broke within three weeks of having it. We had a windy day here in Vegas and I went outside to let the umbrella down and the handle was broker, whereas I could not let down the umbrella. We had to return it broke and all to the store. They would not pick it up and it was delivered to us. So we had to rent a uhaul truck to take it back to the store. The service at the store sucked also.

1st, I put 300 lbs of sand in the base (220 was recommended)

with a bit of wind, it almost tipped a couple times. So, I removed the sang, and butied the base in the ground under 500 pounds of cement. So now, that is not going anywhere.

The bad part is that the thing is designed to swivel. I went swimming with the canopy opened, and again the wind started to twist ie, and (not talking gusty here maybe 10 mph)

it was anough that the metal base actually bent the pieces of metal that limit the rotation ability. Hard to explain. So not I have put a big bolt through the base so it can no longer swivel.

I think it is going to work.

This thing is built sturdy. It is very robust, and I think will last a long time. And for the price, it cant be beat. but in even a light wind, it is going to tip. I will get a 2nd one but I will buy it knowing I am cementing it into the ground and bolting it so it doesn't swivel.

This was exactly what we were looking for to give us shade on a very sunny patio, It was on sale at the time so the price was easily 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost for similar designs and quality at outdoor furniture specialty stores. The offset design is nice so that the base and pole are not in the way. The umbrella turns 360-degrees on the base and can be adjusted to any position along the arc of the neck, so it can always be positioned to block the sun wherever it is in the sky. Assembly was mostly very easy, but it was a little work to put 110 lbs of sand (purchased separately for about $20) into the base. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars was that the neck of the umbrella was slightly damaged. It is the last step in the assembly process, so I didn't notice it until everything else, including the sand, was assembled. It isn't very noticeable and does not impact the use of the umbrella at all so we let it go.

we bought our cantilever for our patio that was too hot to enjoy during the hot summer days....we love it.....strong,sturdy and opens/closes with ease....my only recommendation would be to make sure u weight it down properly...i bought 5 bags of play sand from ********** and placed 4 of them into the base...i didn't use the filler bags that came with umbrella....the 5th bag i placed on top of enclosed base...luckily for me, the base is behind a low wall on the patio..so you don't even see it...i've been trying to buy a netting for it but it seems their all sold out for now...i would recommend this product to someone that needs coverage on 2 chairs and 1 lounge...
