This has been a great hammer!

I know, hammers, so what?  Well this Estwing 22 oz. Framing Hammer has been with me a few years and has been a fine tool.  I have the milled face, framing hammer w/ shock reduction grip.  I appreciate the balance & the shock reduction grip really seems to help when hammering for extended periods.  It swings easily & sends nails home. This hammer shows some appropriate wear (Very little) but it has never chipped or cracked anywhere.  I believe this is partially due to the double-tempered face.  If you are seeking a reasonably priced tool that will do a great job & last,  check this one out.  Another plus...This hammer is "Made in the USA!"

Quality
The inside of the claw is being dented by the nails pulled. The metal is softer than nails. Was not harden correctly when made. This also makes it loose it's grip on a nail.

Overall
Simply the greatest hammer ever made.

My first experience with a estwing hammer goes back over 30 years ago. My rather large father had tried a wide variety of hammers to pull a 16d nail out of a maple tree. After several failures including breaking a so called "unbreakable fiberglass handled hammer", we took a walk to our nearest hardware store and bought an estwing hammer. Sorry to report we still couldn't get the nail out of the tree (nail broke) but at least the hammer survived having all 350lbs of my fathers weight being forced on it.                                                                                                              As far as durability goes, me and my brother used that hammer all over the neighborhood. We had even lost it twice, found it both times and it still sits at my mothers house waiting to be used for the next project. That hammer was even run over by dads 1967 buick skylark, and still survived. If anyone out there need a good hammer they would want to have around for the next 30-40 years, then go to sears and dont be cheap and buy an estwing hammer. You'll only have to buy it once.       R.Vincent
