Garden Oasis  Prescott 5 Pc. Seating Set

After searching for a comfortable set in resin wicker, we gave up after seeing the higher priced Chinese products breaking and cracking on display in the home stores. The upscale UV resistant sets were out of our price range. This Prescott set is comfortable, affordable, and inviting with the cantilever offset umbrella over it for relief from the CA sun. Sitting on it after a dip in the pool is no fuss or muss.  A ratchet-style Allen wrench is highly recommended for ease of assembly.  

The Good: Attractive, comfortable and of sturdy construction; good value for the price. The Bad: Assembly (as attested to in other reviews); it takes someone with some mechanical ability at least 2.5 hours to assemble. The bolts are in very awkward locations, enabling about 1/3 of the turn of the screw before having to remove the Allen wrench, reposition it and take another 1/3 turn - several minutes per screw. I think the Sears executive in charge of patio furniture should have to assemble this product - maybe some engineering changes would have been required. The Ugly: Not one extra nut. No labeling on the "brace bar" for the chair and the ottoman, which differ in length about an inch - I assembled the first chair before realizing that and, of course the othe chair parts would not fit, so I had to start over - a little labeling would go a long way. Then one of the nuts tack welded inside the frame broke loose before I got the bolt tightened, so I could not tighten the bolt or remove it. Another nut tack welded in the frame of one ottoman either had a burr or was misaligned and I could not get the bolt to threat, so I had to go out and buy a "plug tap" to re-thread the nut and I was ultimately able to assemble the ottoman This item needs a re-design for the way it is bolted together - it's just poorly engineered. I can guarantee your fingers will be sore after using that Allen wrench for a couple hours! I do, however, like the finished product.

Assembly is someone complicated, but it goes faster with two people and a little patience.

The set looks nice in the picture, but you get what you pay for. We received our set and after putting most together realized that one of the seats did not have the proper holes needed for installation. We called the manufacturer who told us that we needed to contact Sears. Sears did exchange it for no trouble (just some lost time).

The SECOND set (after we put together most of it) also had holes that were misplaced. They were shifted at a 90 degree angle and there was no way to make it work.

It's unfortunate that what seems like a nice set, is not well made, if you can make it at all.

Now that it's set up and I can use it, I really enjoy sitting on my Garden Oasis seating set. It looks nice and is very comfortable. It also appears to be durable, but time will tell since I've only had it a week.

However, the set was very difficult to assemble.

My husband needed to drill holes on 3 of the 5 pieces so that we could use the screws to put everything together. I don't like that a power tool was needed to assemble this set as not everyone has power tools handy and we had to drill through metal.

We also found that the plastic footies on the bottom of the chairs and ottoman were so hard they damaged our deck. They would be fine for a cement patio or harder surface, but not wood. So we took them off, went to ********** and replaced with thick, rubber that does the trick.

We found for the price and a little sweat equity, it's a good set that we'll enjoy and should last. However, this set is not for everyone as it did take a lot of time, effort, energy, and power tools to assemble.

I searched extensively over the last two years for the perfect conversation set for my condo patio. I searched online at other popular retailers as well as at local stores in Atlanta. Either the sets were too expensive, too cheap looking, or weren't complimentary to my indoor set up. I was originally set on purchasing something that had dark wood since I wasn't a fan of wicker. Then, I finally came to Sears and came across this set. The price point was perfect and the set looked rather fitting and comfortable. I was hesitant to order without having been able to sample it in-store. I am happy to say that this set is absolutely perfect in person as well. Easy assembly, comfortable cushions, not overwhelming big and not uncomfortably small. Seems pretty sturdy and looks even better in person than it does on the picture. Sears was very much on top of the delivery and it came in about 3 days.
