Bought this 2 months ago and while washing sheer drapes, agitator popped off, like the last few reviews, and tore them up. Sears was quick to handle this and replaced the washer with a free up grade to Model# GTWN5250DWW.
well same thing just happened to this one but this time washing towels, on the towel cycle and using the precise water fill...thanks GE

Nice to find a machine with manual controls, stainless steel tub and a good agitator, machine runs smooth and quite compared to the old one.

I've only had the washer for a few days. It works as advertised but I am getting some medium vibration during the final spin. Otherwise, works great. Good value.

As described per specification. Does a good job in cleaning. Had an HE washer with digital, sensor mechanisms which were sensitive to brown outs and power fluctuations; and eventually gave up. Preferred to go back to the basic gear driven washer as opposed to belt driven. This product although not energy efficient is ok for our family's needs.

For the most part this washer functions well with a normal load of wash. However, after a large load I find a redeposit of film from the rinse water. Also it has no setting for a higher level of water for pillows which cannot be agitated top to bottom. Top half gets wet due to absorption but doesn't really get washed unless you flip halfway through wash and then again during rinse cycle.

My husband and I have ALWAYS had used GE appliances. We would buy them used and have them fixed if needed and use the dog out of 'em and they took all the 'abuse' we dished out, load after dirty load of clothes. Recently we decided to buy another machine, I said I want a new one. We first bought another one that did not satisfy our washing needs. So, as a second choice, we bought the GE 3.9 stainless steel large capacity washer. I did not want anything fancy, just dependable. I have tried everything imaginable to make my clothes smell clean out of this machine. I have added additional soap, I have decreased the size of the load, I have reran the rinse cycle numerous times per load all to only have our clothes, sheets and towels still have an odor. This machine just does NOT aggitate my clothes like the older more reliable GE washers; but it sure aggitates me. I would not recommend any of the newer water saving, entergy efficient products because they do not clean~! I wash for a husband that works outside in the heat, three very active grandchildren and 3 other family members - I know when the clothes are clean and so does my family!

I have a family of nine and wash tons of clothes on a daily basis. This washer has cut my loads in half. Very quiet too. Easy to use.

This washer does a good job of cleaning my clothes. It is very quiet and I can hardly hear it. I bought it last year because I needed something immediately and I had read the comments on the HE washers. On occasions with bedspreads I have to re-run the spin cycle to get rid of extra water. I have friends with Electronic washers who have this problem and they can't rerun the spin cycle. Also, I had an incident where our special expensive mattress/sheet cover for our tempurpedic bed got caught under the agitator and we had to pull it apart and unbolt the agitator. One side of the sheet was completely shredded and stained black. We've also had to remove the agitator when we have clothes with drawstrings that get caught under the wings of the agitator. I don't know why they have that space in between instead of just having it completely attached. The clothes get all knotted together and it's a nightmare having to undo all the knots. Make sure you put your nice bras in a mesh bag.

I returned my HE Samsung in a week and got this GE instead, I really love it. You can select your load manually and has lots of settings too. Its very quiet compare to my old Speed Queen (had for 25 years).

My old Maytag broke 2 weeks ago & I went to ****** & bought 2 high end HE replacements (one costing $1,200). The HE front & top loaders DO NOT CLEAN YOUR CLOTHES PEOPLE. I'm not a engineer, but this couldn't be healthy! No water = filthy clothes no matter how long they wash. I even had to take the garden hose & stick it in where you place your detergent to get enough water in the tub to clean my towels so they didn't make you vomit when you put one to your face...just plain filth. So I went to sear & bought this GE 3.9 old agitator style. After 1 load of laundry, I was smiling to see sparkly clean. HE front loaders are a Gr8 concept, but could the Feds give us about 4 more gal of water?
My previous 3.6 GE scrubbed like a champ, had a 2nd rinse, and plenty of water. I had to have it fixed a few times but I was happy with it. Now that it died I ordered this over-engineered wimpy no-balls model to replace. NOT HAPPY. 1. the 'agitator' barely moves, even in the 'heavy duty' cycle! It merely swish swishes, mewing like a newborn kitten! My previous machines only did that in the lingerie cycle. 2. the clothing is NOT rolling over and getting a good cleaning. 3. the cycle itself is a mere 5 mins total for the 'heavy duty' ...are you kidding me? 4. the rinse barely swishes the water around and 5. only ONE rinse cycle? this means i have to turn the dial back and do it again!! all of this for the 600 I paid?? Come on, GE engineers, grow a set and make something that actually CLEANS instead of bowing to the PC crowd that wants to be more 'efficient'. Walking around with stinky stained clothing is not what I want for myself and my family of 5!!
